January 7, 20251 yr Popular Post Well folks better late than never! He did it! I don't know if ya'll remember but a few years ago he was ready to go, then some things happened, life, and it got put on hold, and today we witnessed our son swearing into the Army! Here is the post that I did a few years ago. And here we are today! At about 1210 today civilian Jeroid Morris became PFC Jeroid Morris! Why a jump in rank, cuz the kid was smart and did JROTC three years in high school. Enlistment 5 years Regular Army MOS - 15T UH60 Repairer Rank at Entry - PFC Basic at Ft Jackson, South Carolina AIT at FT Eustis, VA Option 19 First Duty Station - Our son chose Ft Lewis Wash Very proud of our young man, his MOS is 15T, a UH60 Black Hawk Repairer. Jeroid should have the option of getting his Airborne Wings, he wants to Air Assault qualify as well and his end goal is to become Crew Chief on his own Black Hawk, with his name stenciled on the side of the bird Earlier today, Jeroid and Recruiter with proud mama and papa and sister. The oldest sister and our son n law will attend the MEPS ceremony in March when he actually ships out. Don't worry, he'll get some meat on dem bones while at Basic

March 16, 2025Mar 16 Author Popular Post Well it's coming down to the wire guys! Our son ships out the 24th of this month, next Monday. His recruiter is driving him down the day before and get him and a few other guys set up in their hotel for the night, the Army's sparing no expense on these guys, they are putting them up in a 5 star Sheraton in San Diego, with an open meal ticket! So he'll have his last unsupervised dinner Sunday evening, and breakfast Monday morning at the Sheraton, then they'll catch a ride to MEPS, he'll in process, and swear in. We'll be joining him Monday morning to watch the MEPS swear in. Then he's on duty for the next 5 years of his life. Last weekend we had a nice going away party for our son, all his buddy's were over and some family friends. At the end of the evening after they all went home, we got a picture of our son with his two sisters before we packed it in for evening. Our oldest girl on the left, our son center, and our fresh veteran daughter on the right who just returned from her 5 years in the Army. She's going to school now. We went to the local printer to have a banner with a UH-60 Black Hawk to show off Jeroid's MOS choice. Everyone who showed up that day signed his banner. It'll be hung in my garage/shop next to our daughters we had for her at her going away party over 5 years ago. Yesterday we did a traditional shooting day, minus our oldest daughter, she had obligations, but me, mama and our two remaining kids made a day of it in the desert and we fired off some of our favorite guns. I brought my ol .50cal smoke pole with one of my black powder .45 Colt Army revolvers. Jeroid brought his Henry .22mag lever action, and our youngest daughter brought her new SW Shield Plus, she's getting used to it and loves it so far. This was our last family outing day before our son leaves for the Army, we did this day just for him. We hung out there for a few hours, shot some, talked some, ate picnic, shot a little more, talked more, it was very relaxing, and we all had a good time. We are going to miss our son very much. I have mixed emotions, we just got our daughter back, and now we are giving up our son in service of our nation. We hope and pray that our current leaders use this precious human resource wisely, yes he's going to be a soldier, but he has a family in us, it's personal. Love ya son!
March 16, 2025Mar 16 Popular Post Thanks, John, for sharing these precious moments with us. Hope Jeriod’s service is all he is hoping for and he stays safe.

Thanks a million Lew! He's excited right now, he's got it all planned out in his own head, but we all know, that'll change!
March 17, 2025Mar 17 Popular Post A proud but tough time. Something tells me that he will be a terrific soldier. Just like the ole man.
