Prepping for the big snow coming Sunday.  As for the shop, I’m building an oak flag case for a lady in Wisconsin.

The "Forecasters" haven't made up our minds yet if we're going to get nothing with the storm going just South of us or us getting "Lake Effect" snow off of Lake Michigan providing the winds shift to coming from the Northeast.

:ChinScratch: Looks like we've warmed up to 20° RF -2°. At least the Sun is shining! :D

Finally got a laptop converted to W11 24H2. Play a little with that.

Like Ron, I have some prep to do for the upcoming storm. What little shop time I may get I'll fill by playing on the lathe and a couple of flatwork projects to accomodate some Christmas gifts.

Spent the last hour or so around the burn barrel getting rid of a bunch of maple cutoffs and assorted pieces of leftover sheet goods. Trying to make enough room in the shop to let me glue up some more cutting boards. Just realized how good it feels to spend time outside, beside a fire with a very light sprinkling of snow. Kinda takes me back to my teens. Now, if only the arthritis would go away!

Doing a quick set construction for the next show (fund-raiser, so not elaborate).

Had "orders" to do some chores today; no longer getting by using the excuse I'm still recovering from my hospital stay back in September.;) Finally went out to get the mail at the urging of one our fellow TPW'ers (separate post forth coming).

While out in the cold, blowing wind and snow to get the mail, picked up some limbs to keep those out of the snowblower. I'm not sure where all my extra auger shear pins are conveniently hidden, stored. Speaking of snowblower, that's the Saturday task; haven't used it the past two winters.

Sunday I hope to get back to Sunday school after a long absence, then worship services. That hinges on when the snow storm arrives. Youngest grandson's basketball travel league games have already been canceled. Assuming I get the snowblower going, it may get put to work.

Dave, I brought my snowblower from the shed to the garage yesterday.  I realized that I hadn’t changed the oil since I retired…….2008.  It was rather darkish.  Hope I don’t have to use it.

I hope we don't either Ron. I usually store mine with the oil from the previous season, then change it in the fall when I get it ready. I always run the gas out it, then use StaBil fogging oil inside the fuel tank, spray some in the carburetor, then pull the spark plug and give the cylinder a few sprays while it's still warm. I then wipe it all down with silicone spray, spray the auger, chute and auger housing.

Last time I got it ready, I put on new skids shoes, adjusted all the belts and changed the oil. Thinking about it, that's been 3 years ago. It was good insurance when it was new. Didn't need it at all the first 3 seasons I owned it.

With volunteering to put in overtime at the day job who has any time to make an agenda? I'm too busy working to plan more work :)
for my shop time, it's the time of year that I trim up my collection of trimmings scraps and off-cuts from the summer months. These get glued into strips, then into panels, then cut into strips to glue into panels then cut into strips to glue into cutting boards. Other than that, it's time to take down the Christmas decor. and clean up the yard from the door debris which "she who must be obeyed" decided we needed two days before Christmas. Fortunately, it snowed right after hiding the mess and I didn't have to clean it up while the temps were still in the balmy 30-degree range. Now that it's in the single digits I'll get it done much faster.

stay safe friends and make a bunch of sawdust.

Change of plans for the Saturday project.  I have a Bosch 1617EVS router hanging under my router table and the coast down was getting a tad “chirpy” so I spent about an hour replacing the bearings in it.  No more chirp, chirp.

Nice to have spare bearings!

For some time now I have been wanting to build a router table for my palm router, without building another table. The face of the router was 3 1/2" dia. x 1/2" deep and the barrel was 2 7/8" dia.

Palm0.jpg.bed89c3a39649e9bc7a32fc5245e09ee.jpg

So I got a 1/2" piece of plywood and cut a keyhole shape hole in it that was 3 1/2" on one end and 3" on the other and a 3" slot between in the middle. Then with another piece of 1/2" plywood I cut a 3 1/2" hole and slot and overlayed it on the first piece as seen in the photo below.

Palm1.jpg.7291b4ba21ec7dc49ee7776353da295f.jpg

Now I put the face of the router through the top 3 1/2" hole....

Palm2.jpg.809af0add9f01c61a4e68dd213e7d2ec.jpg

..... rotate the router 180° and slide it down to the bottom of the slot.

Palm3.jpg.7a409ec478257ca13954f2ec59ec8ab6.jpg

Now to mount it to my workbench I hang the router off the front edge of the workbench and clamp the router table top to the workbench.

Palm4.jpg.0cc2300ff28e98f37d86247542c9ae86.jpg

To help secure the router to the workbench I screwed a stretchable Velcro strap to the face of the workbench.

 Palm5.jpg.44fa985fe5b7a35569f0eb9bfda77ad3.jpg

I tested it out using a 1/8" round over bit on some small pieces of scrap wood and it seem to work fine.

So I made a router table............without making another table. :cowboy:

Despite the shop managers 75% complete plans and same old stories all day, 5 of us  got the 2 platforms with shelves and steps and a trapezoidal intermediary step platform done.  Ready for rehearsal tomorrow and Monday, then a few panels to the edges and paint.
