Popular Post John Morris Posted December 16, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted December 16, 2024 Good Monday morning! Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks! Also, if anyone has any inside scoop of where to watch our favorite Christmas time classic shows, I'd sure appreciate a heads up where to find that information, I'm talking free viewing, seems Apple TV bought out the Charlie Brown franchise and us regular folks can't view this stuff anymore without being an Apple TV member. What's this world coming too! GOOD GRIEF! Welcome new members To view our newest members and welcome them to our digs, please see our Members Page, you can "Sort" by join date and click on their names and be taken to their profile page where you can leave a message of welcome. Thank you for making our newest folks feel welcome. Featured topic @FrederickH is at it again, every time he leaves on a whirlwind vacation he comes back with something else to create from his trip. See the Eagle at his topic below. Featured image @David Walsh has been at work on more of his custom Old Machinery and brands signs, these signs would look great in any man cave, or anywhere! They should be hung in a prominent place in your home over your fireplace if SWMBO approves of course. Take a look at some of his latest fabrications. Keep in mind, these are all for sale! Featured video I've always been fascinated with the E.C. Emmerich hand planes. I have yet to try one but would love too someday. Given that, I found this video made quite well by a young lady woodworker in Germany who takes you to the 170 plus year old Emmerich factory. It's a fun watch. lew, DuckSoup, steven newman and 6 others 7 2 Quote
Popular Post lew Posted December 16, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted December 16, 2024 We received an inch or so of snow last evening- just enough to cover the grass. Looks really festive. Did get to the lathe for a few minutes and put a couple of applications of wipe on poly on the inside of the bowl I've been working on. Will reverse chuck it and try to create the rounded bottom. Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted December 16, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted December 16, 2024 Watched a little football, completed a few domestic chores, granddaughter made it home for her Christmas break, retrieved the mail and an Amazon delivery, a couple outside tasks, church yesterday followed by the annual Christmas dinner. Week one down with the "portable" heart monitor; one to go. Not sure yet what the week will bring. It's getting about time to think about Christmas shopping. Granddaughter needs batteries replaced in her laptop and a headlight bulb in her car. Oldest grandson has a basketball game tonight and Wednesday night which will wrap up his season. Shop remains closed due to climate change. Donut moratorium remains in effect. HARO50, Larry Buskirk, Gerald and 6 others 4 2 3 Quote

Popular Post kmealy Posted December 16, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted December 16, 2024 Busy day -- Dr. appointment first thing, then a drive to library to pick up some books I had on hold, stop at Costco, stop at Home Depot, stop at the furniture bank, stop at Rockler, then on to a toy building session with about 8 other guys from the woodworking club. On the way home, there was a traffic jam so diverted, then a stop at Dollar Store. Home and making Xmas cookies. HARO50, Grandpadave52, DuckSoup and 6 others 5 4 Quote

I had some pretty good results making apple cider donuts on Sunday. Used the recipe I always used to use from Fanny Farmer cookbook, and substituted a cider reduction and some unsweetened apple sauce for the milk. While they are of course wonderful right out of the fryer, I don't taste the apple as much until the following day. The baked donut recipe I tried early on was not good. Should have listened to my skeptical side - never heard of such a thing when I was a kid, how could it possibly be an improvement? Ended up with some donut shaped muffins. I don't like muffins - or more accurately, they are ok, but I never make them and never buy them. Put one in front of me with some coffee and I will eat it John Morris, DuckSoup, Larry Buskirk and 6 others 2 7 Quote
Popular Post JWD Posted December 19, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted December 19, 2024 That was a fun video on E.C.E, I especially enjoyed seeing the machines! A couple in particular I could really use! lew, HARO50, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 3 others 6 Quote

I did too JWD, I loved those channeled ways they use to glue the sole to the body, that machine cut em diagonally, I never would have known that was the configuration of those channels. Pretty cool. Pretty cool. Same for me - it had never occurred to me that those were cut diagonally. The copying carver for the front handles was also very cool. I have a similar machine but nowhere near so rock solid as that one looks. I can't even imagine making my patterns out of steel! Larry Buskirk, John Morris, HARO50 and 2 others 5 Quote
