Winged box

I won the chapter challenge last year at our club with the lamp I made. That means I had to pick what everyone has to make for this years chapter challenge. I want to pick something that the newer turners could turn and the experienced turners could take to the next level. I chose a winged box. This is mine so far. Still have a ways to go.

I like it Rusty.  I have a plan to make my brothers and sisters a winged box.  For Christmas?  Hopefully.

I like it as it is. A bowl / catchment of sorts. Also, it is a winner for part of a larger sculpture, the habit of the Flying Nun

I got the top and finial finished. I just need to put a finish on the whole thing. Going to finish it with Waterlox.

Looks like the finish is already on.  How far did you go sanding grit wise?

Thanks. I only sanded to 400 this time. I did put on one coat of sanding sealer.

Sanding to 400 is always a nice finish - I'm out of 400 at the moment :WonderScratch:

Spirit sanding sealer is about my favorite finish if I'm using any. Just enough to keep dirt and such out of the pores.

Top prize design and execution  (insert pile'o'gold emoticon here)

I have tried a few sanding sealers. I like Mylands Celulose sanding sealer the best.
