Ribeye and sirloins off the grill. Baked taters and green beans. Copious amounts of butter and sour cream. Life is indeed wonderful. He didn't actually mention a "Mrs." Mighta been talking about the ribeye and sirloins! Anyway, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, DeVere and ?.
October 29, 20241 yr Popular Post Had a good weekend. Son got half of the property mowed and I worked on weed eating. Oh that was Friday. Ball games Saturday and Ole Miss won. Today is another story. He finished the mowing and I trimmed the small trees under the big ones. Finishing up and he parked the tractor. He went up the hill and I notices oil on the ground. Checked the tractor and the right side of rear trans was covered in oil. Checked the dipstick and it was dry. Called dealer and they did not have anyone they could send out this week. Wanted me to haul it to their shop,, problem no trailer , Senior . Don't just have to have it for now so may wait. Spent a little time ripping another slab off that oak. Call the dealer again tomorrow. We do a bit of tree limb removal with the electric pole saw and generator in back of truck tomorrow. Maybe rake some of that hay from the mowing of the 3 foot sage.
October 29, 20241 yr Popular Post Mid morning today the boss comes in and tells me we have a major water leak so all water to the site will be shut off so we can commence digging. So we load up a 200 gallon water tank in the site pickup and go fill it at a hydrant on a different system than was leaking. Get back and go look at progress of the hole, sloppy, muddy mess. Go find some rubber boots for the guy spotting the backhoe and shoveling, then get back and find out that they had found the leak, but also bent a copper air line and ripped the backup phone/internet cable. Ironically it pulled apart at a splice right around where all the pipes come together and have valves. Apparently, this has happened before! Man did that mud stick to the shovel! I only dug for maybe an hour or 1.5, but I feel like I got hit by a train which then backed up! We did at least get the leaky bit capped with a valve by noon, all ready for finishing the repair tomorrow when the main facility guy comes back from town with parts. Which is a long and drawn out way of saying "Yup, it's Monday alright!" Edited October 29, 20241 yr by JWD

October 31, 20241 yr Popular Post Two more rip cuts and this will be ready to go to shop for final sizing. Not fun but it is free. They may not be nominal size when done but it is a leanto for tractor.
