Well, today is Marie's birthday. It's appreciated but completely unnecessary for all the government offices to close and everyone to fly their flags but thanks to all anyway.  In any case, I though I would have a weekend in the shop (I did, sortof) when I heard a voice in my head say something like "did you forget that hand rail to the garage that needs to be built?". I answered myself: yes, I did. As it turns out Marie needs handrails to negotiate steps, on each side of the stairs. She uses a cane in here right hand and the hand rail with her left. Our 3 steps down to the garage has always had a right side rail (going down), but I needed to put on the other side. So it is I wound up playing carpenter over the weekend, something that woodworkers shouldn't do. As woodworker's we strive for flat, straight boards, tight joinery, nice grain in the wood, etc. Turns out you can't do that working with framing lumber (betcha didn't know that!). But we got it done, even if it's not something I would photograph, and once the hand rail gets here tomorrow it will be off my list. Otherwise, the only I accomplished was to dispatch a groundhog that had moved into our back yard. He's over waiting for the buzzards to have dinner later in the field across the street.

Watched some college football games, took a couple naps, ate 1-1/2 donuts, "attended"  church via on-line, took a couple walks outside, picked some tomatoes.

I was wrong, (technically not); youngest, granddaughters swim season didn't begin this past Saturday. Apparently the coaching staff posted an incorrect schedule on the University's website. Anyways, her final season begins this coming Saturday but will be down state. However, she came home this weekend for a brief visit. Came by the house yesterday for a couple hours. Nice to see her. She's happy.

Spent most of Saturday texting with oldest granddaughter helping her car shop for a new to her car. Her dad was with her, but she asked me to review everything. I think she did OK. Kept me busy at least. She's happy.

Remainder of the week hopefully just a quiet week of recovery.

Is it really possible to eat 1 and 1/2 donuts? I mean...if you eat the first 1/2 of one can you really put the other 1/2 down???

Just curious.....

Haven't had a cup of coffee since the morning of September 16. No restrictions (other than to limit high caffeine intake) have been imposed on me since the surgery nor is it self imposed. Strangely, no desire for it at all nor have I missed it. Thank goodness my donut gene hasn't been altered.

Wife rationed them by cutting in half. I'm suspecting she ate the other half but I have no definitive proof. She just tells me things like, don't you remember you already ate that yesterday.:WonderScratch: I think she's abusing my condition for her benefit.:ChinScratch:

Got more logs from one of the people I know, Cedar this go around so going to half those and see what kind of bowls I can get out of those didn't take into account that today was a DANGED holiday so stupid UPS not delivering lathe until probably tomorrow dag nab it.

Mimi had to limit her caffeine so she switched to making "half and half". I'm slowly getting used to it but still fill the tank with high octane when out and about.

a lady i greatly respect and I got our differences sorted out and reconciled.  hallelujah.

Coffee, I remember when it was a daily routine. Now I'm limited to caffeine free when I do get to drink it. Sort of like drinking dish water.
