September 24, 20241 yr Author Popular Post I ended up swapping the verticals which put the garf against the wall. A little more work but all is well. Today started the assembly process. Paul
September 27, 20241 yr Nice save Paul. I'm confident with your skills, you'll blend it perfectly with the final finish. Guessing only you will be able to discern it.
September 27, 20241 yr Author Thanks for the confidence Dave. I put some oil finish on it to test the waters and it didn’t blend well. I rearranged the panels and with a little more routering managed make that a side that goes against the wall which resolved the problem. Paul
September 28, 20241 yr Author Popular Post Today was get the carcasses up the stairs and then spent the rest of the day routering the lazy Susan’s. Paul
September 28, 20241 yr Is that "domino" tape expensive? I assume leftover fragments is not reusable? Is it a random pattern or recurring pattern of dots. Just curious. It amazes me with the CNC technology within a handheld device.
September 28, 20241 yr Author No it’s pretty reasonable. It’s $22 for 150 ft roll. You dont use that much of it. For most projects you use tape boards that you make up which you use over and over. I think in three years I’ve used about six rolls. It’s an amazing technology. It orients the router to .001” Paul
September 29, 20241 yr Author Popular Post We finished up the lazy Susan’s and the shelving for them. They are ready for finish. Paul
October 1, 20241 yr Author Popular Post Sunday we applied the finish and installed the lazy susans. Today I started the process of butcher blocking the red cedar for the drawers. Paul
October 4, 20241 yr Author Popular Post I started the process of making the drawers today. I normally use plywood for the bottoms but I have been having a lot of issues with the ply warping or “potato chipping”. I’ve even tried baltic birch. These are pretty large drawers 20” X 46” so stability is an issue. I decided to make my own out of half inch soft maple. I glued them up in approx 3” strips and tomorrow or Sat will mill them to 1/2” and start assembling them. Paul
October 8, 20241 yr Author Popular Post The last few days have been busy but now the cedar drawers are ready for assembly tomorrow. Paul
October 8, 20241 yr Author Popular Post It is. What a great smell cedar has. Whenever you are making a chest of drawers or in this case a linen closet it makes for really nice drawers. When you are doing a chest of drawers only one drawer needs to be cedar. Paul
