August 9, 20241 yr Popular Post According to my phone it's Friday again folks. Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I'll be doing more yard work. I broke a shear bolt on the rototiller yesterday when I found what was left of a tree stump, I didn't know was there so before I can do any more tilling, I'll have to fix that. Otherwise, I've been relocating Wildflowers as I identify them. Also been collecting seeds from those I didn't move in case the ones I did move don't make it. Managed to find a couple that are on the states endangered list that the "city" considers to be invasive weeds, but the state lists as "Protected Wildflowers". Looks like we may have an early Fall/Winter as the Oak, and Maple trees are already dropping their leaves and the Milkweeds and a few of the Wildflowers are already going to seed. So, I'll be working in the "Weed Sanctuary" while I can still get some work done getting it ready to plant the seeds for next years "Weeds". With that, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
August 9, 20241 yr Popular Post Yard work here as well. The nice weather we'll be having will allow me to (I hope) get caught up from when I was shut up indoors. I notice that East coast storm is crossing a big slice of PA soon, I hope Lew and others are good. PS, the cool mornings find me in the shop with the OH door up and the entry door open. It's so nice I'm actually enjoying the sanding I'm doing on a coffee table I'm building.
August 9, 20241 yr Popular Post Just the usual puttering around....getting healed up from a kick back last night..Hands are sore...
August 9, 20241 yr Popular Post Radar shows the back edge of T.D. Debby's rain crossing over the crest of the Tuscarora Mountain ridge to the west so the bulk of the rain will be over in an hour or so. A little over 3" since yesterday morning and 2" earlier this week. Too late for the corn but the soy beans will benefit. Should go a long way in alleviating some of the drought we have been experiencing and filling the reservoirs. Water table was pretty low so I think we will not have any basement flooding. Every time a hurricane moves up this way, I have nightmares of Hurricane Agnes in 1972. We had over 4 feet of water in the basement.
August 9, 20241 yr Popular Post We've been enjoying sweet corn, green beans and plenty of cherry tomatoes from the garden this past week. Mrs. and I picked another 2 gallon bucket of beans last night. She and my daughter will be canning those this weekend along with sweet corn and freezing more of that "foul, broccoli weed." Variety of church related functions over the weekend. Got a decent start on the yard mowing yesterday; more to go today once it dries some more. Several parts have arrived to hopefully complete reconditioning efforts on my woodchipper. Some other mechanical repair work projects on the list now that we're getting some cooler weather. Also have some small parts/ tools soaking in Evap-O-Rust that need tending...oh look a squirrel...

Spared the wife's Poppys which is probably why I hit that stump. Trying to figure out where I put that assortment of shear bolts/pins. I know I saw it recently, or was that 6 months ago?

August 9, 20241 yr Popular Post My grandson is coming for 2 weeks, I have to wait to ensure he doesn't have COVID. I have lots of woodworking things for him to do (10 more Beer Cases) and he doesn't know it but next weekend he'll be demonstrating his ww'n skills in the AG tent at the local fair.
August 9, 20241 yr Popular Post Finished the Dueling tree today and going to test it in a few. Picked up a couple of recliners from missionary friends who are moving permanently to Kenya. Hope to get some turning done tomorrow. There goes that squirrel again. Too hot to do much else.
August 10, 20241 yr Popular Post Gotta replace the knob and dead bolt in the shop's man door, today. Lost the key to the old one. Then, it's back to the scroll saw and more Christmas ornaments.

August 10, 20241 yr Popular Post I've been hobbled for the past week, but getting better. Following a morning walk last week I headed over to the Ace to get a 20# propane tank filled for the gas grill. Putting said tank in the back of the truck I felt it and knew immediately. I spent three days starting each day on my hands and knees But I have been improving each day. Seen the doc on Monday and they are "trying" to get approval and get me scheduled for a shot before our trip out at the end of the month. I hope we can get that done - fingers crossed. Also this past week, the upstairs a/c unit quit working. It took the HVAC company four trips, five days & three techs to get it fixed... This morning the client for the window sash mirror project is supposed to come in. I hope he comes early and stays late so that we can get close to completing this project. Wedding mirror is nearly completed.

August 10, 20241 yr We had one of those AC tech visits and boy was it costly. 4# freon $500 and he said may have to replace the unit if this does not hold. I have a friend who replaced his at over 10K, just don't want to think about it. Ugh!!!
