Traditional Woodworking Handtools

I'm (re-reading) this book a chapter at a time.  Each of the 50 chapters covers a specific hand tool in quite some depth (8-12 pages).  Hundreds of hand-drawn illustrations.  If you want to know something about a specific tool (or learn about them all), this is the one.   Many of the topics appear to have been published in various magazines as a recurring column.  Graham has written a number of books and now has a YouTube channel that is similar -- a short video on a specific topic.  Currently about 87 episodes https://www.youtube.com/@gjbmunc   Graham self-published the book but it appears to only available on the secondary (used) market right now.

I first "met" Graham online in the late 1990s when the book first came out and somehow he found me and I shared his book with a hand tool group that I was active in at the time.  At  that time, he was in Woodstock, NY.  Coincidentally, he played in a band that performed at the famous Woodstock event.  A few years later, I was helping out as a host at a Popular Woodworking conference here in town and coincidentally, I hosted one of Graham's sessions.  I was shocked that he remembered me.

I need to dig through my archives. I'm pretty sure I have that book also.

 

Graham just taught a week session in early July of Traditional Woodworking in at Marc Adams School, Franklin, IN.

 

IIRC, @Steve Krumanakerattended a turning class at Marc Adams a few years back.

 

Franklin is ~90 minutes (with no construction) from my front door. Been there many times; Daughter and oldest granddaughter are both alums of Franklin College.

It's awesome how those connections can stick around over the years, especially in a tight-knit community like this.
