John Morris Posted July 22, 2024 Report Posted July 22, 2024 Good Monday morning! Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks! Fundraiser Update We'd like to thank everyone who has donated to help keep our community live and up to date! So far we've raised $645.00. If ya got 2 bucks to spare please consider helping us out. We are only about a third of the way there to help cover our server fees, licensing fees, mail delivery server fees, and independent third party developer licensing costs for additional software that helps keep our community purring along. In addition to our base fees, we like to be able to have a cushion in our coffers to help out a woodworker who needs help! Thank you! Also, fundraiser related: If you receive the occasional fundraiser request by us at your email inbox, please don't mark us as spam or block sender, by doing that you ping us at our Mail Server and our rating and trustworthiness takes a hit, and we may end up on a "Known Spam" website with our domain being blacklisted and marked "Bad Reputation". Look folks, we only do this fundraiser once a year, we don't spam you, you are not constantly getting barrages of emails from The Patriot Woodworker, only unless you have your notifications set as such, but you control that, not The Patriot Woodworker. Throughout the entire year you'll really only see emails from us during two events, our Summer Fundraiser, and our Wounded Warrior Christmas Project. If you don't want to receive these twice yearly email campaigns, just click on "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of the newsletter. I get nasty emails from members yelling at me to remove them from our mailing list because we constantly spam them. Not true! Again, we have only two events each year, and even at that, we rarely send out any newsletters about those events! Thanks for helping us keep our domain thepatriotwoodworker.com in good standing Welcome new members To view our newest members and welcome them to our digs, please see our Members Page, you can "Sort" by join date and click on their names and be taken to their profile page where you can leave a message of welcome. Thank you for making our newest folks feel welcome. The Patriot Woodworker 2024 Summer Fundraiser It's live folks! If you play here, live here, have fun here, please consider helping us out and contribute to our coffers to help pay for the things that keep us live and up to date. I agreed with Fred that is tiring. on the way home from procedure. Just had a huge breakfast at iHop. May be able to get into shop this afternoon. Will have to sneak off from wife as she will interpret no driving as no shop also. @AndrewB John Lucas has some good videos on sharpening on YouTube. Fred W. Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted July 22, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 22, 2024 Very diverse and busy weekend but mostly productive. Finished mowing Saturday evening. Rain was late arriving though; didn't get here until 3A this morning. Just picked up oldest grandson from football practice. Will hang out at their place for a while. Plenty of outside projects in the offing depending on rain; it's in the daily forecast through Friday. Haircut and errands day Wednesday in the "big city"; I anticipate two donuts being sacrificed for the welfare of mankind afterwards. Fred W. Hargis Jr, Larry Buskirk, Cal and 3 others 6 Quote
Popular Post Gerald Posted July 22, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 22, 2024 Oh you just reminded me we got 3.5 inches of rain in 3 hours yesterday. Did not see any problems when we went to town this morning. Grandpadave52, lew, Larry Buskirk and 2 others 3 2 Quote
Popular Post Larry Buskirk Posted July 23, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 23, 2024 Had to replace the belt on the string mower yesterday. Of course, the motor pulley refused to budge so pulled the motor to change the belt. More rain forecast for today so don't know what I'll get done. Might just watch MeTV Toons all day, I'm ready for a break. Fred W. Hargis Jr, Gerald, lew and 2 others 1 4 Quote
Popular Post Cal Posted July 23, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted July 23, 2024 (edited) I did get the lawn, what's left of it anyhow, mowed Saturday and done just before the rain started. Chalk it up as a win Spent a good deal of Sunday on the computer. Have a couple mirror projects I worked on and I also put together a trip itinerary for this fall. Monday was breakfast and meeting with the "client" on one of the mirror projects. It is proposed to be another window sash project that a local little theatre cast presents as a gift to the director after the last show. The show is mid-October, Julie & I will be gone the month of September... Yesterday afternoon I got the sash out and removed the lites. I will turn over the sash to the client to do whatever they want with it while I get the mirrors cut and prep for all the etchings. The second project is a wedding mirror that will be needed on October 5th, as soon as we return. I will be busy! Looking at the rest of the week, a movie tonight in Macon at the historic Douglass Theatre; with a free happy hour before the show starts. Wednesday is a dental appt. I need to get my butt in gear!
