May 13, 20242 yr Popular Post Busy weekend but nothing major accomplished. Youngest grandson wrapped up his spring youth soccer league Saturday AM; 3-3 tie; afterwards, mowed until about dark. Sunday, after church, went to our daughters/SIL place to celebrate mother's day and SIL's birthday. He fried up some handcut tenderloins for sandwiches with all the fixins'; potato salad, deviled eggs, pickled beets, chips/dips for sides; sun brewed, sweet tea and my wife provided the fresh made pineapple upside down birthday cake with vanilla bean ice cream. Nice afternoon. Today, hope to finish mowing before next wave of rain arrives; both grandsons have baseball games on alternating nights through Friday. Some domestic duties getting ready for new high end mattress delivery. It's supposed to be the end-all to improve my back. Cost more than my first three cars. Youngest granddaughter will be home for the supper at the end of the week.
May 13, 20242 yr Popular Post Had to take Marie to the doc this morning ahead of tomorrow's back surgery. Then got home and mowed the lawn as fast as I could, lots more prep for the surgery stuff I need to attend to today; then it's quite a few weeks of caregiver duty. I am working on a box in the shop....a turned box, my first. I've ran into a couple of questions I have on procedure that i'll post in turning at some point. It's not likely to be for quite a few days.
May 13, 20242 yr Popular Post Cut 15 newel post caps for the theater. Duh, I noticed that I can move the clamp forward on the tenon jig so it sits in the middle while I bevel 4 edges on a 7x7x1.5" cap. Then cut 2 12" circles from plywood for seats. Ran the car to the shop for some repairs. This afternoon, working on 50% scale model beehives for demonstrations. Evening, planting the tomato and daisy plants in the garden, and probably picking strawberries and asparagus.
May 13, 20242 yr Popular Post My Son's FIL died Saturday and Jeremy drove down that night to make arrangements and move some electronics and ammo out of the house as well as clear out the frig. I went over Sunday and with my youngest we helped . Tried to find legal paper but no luck. Probably be organizing some of the cords today and maybe find boxes to pack it better.
May 13, 20242 yr Popular Post Mowed about 400' of sloped outside ditch-line along road with walk behind. Done for the day I'm pooped.

May 13, 20242 yr Popular Post Well this week I am home and working on the slats for the plantation shutters….. again….. What? You mean they aren’t supposed to form a perfect panel when they are closed? Ugh… At least my spacing measurements were consistent….
May 15, 20242 yr Popular Post And....we be back home...still getting settled in...And, I still have errands to run...stay tuned..
May 15, 20242 yr Popular Post having a Guinness.NOW...as I think I have earned it, today...taking a break, for now.
May 16, 20242 yr Popular Post Well, that’s better. The test fit of the new slats is complete and they overlap like they are supposed to. One more like that to do, then a ton of sanding and paint, then I just have to install and trim out and we will be done with this project.
