It's not woodworking related, but I just wanted to share a YouTube channel that I find fascinating, the channel is hosted by Townsend's. He is a Colonial Williamsburg preservationist and he has his own YouTube channel showing how we Americans lived in the 18th Century. His main staple in videos is how we cooked in the 1700's, and survived, but he also dives into other parts of everyday life in Colonial America.

Here he is demonstrating how we lit our homes and businesses. Enjoy!

Just learned something today....on another site.

A fellow was having trouble making a cut on his Mitersaw (Electric)  and some of the answers dealt with having a bad square?

Have yet to see any square, speed or otherwise...make a cut in wood.....Mark a cut, yes....but MAKE a cut?

But, there were some that BLAMED the square.  Ok...

"A BAD Worker will blame his tools...." sort of thing?

waiting on Lunch to settle through the system...and then try the shop for a bit?    Called the Boss a little bit ago....seems to be over her 100% Grouch thing...for now..

Busy Saturday. Out early for trip just West of Indy for auction pick-up. A few errands on return trip plus run the Buick through the auto shower. Home for a bit, then off to grandsons 4th/5th grade combined choral concert. Turns out the director was the Director of the Indianapolis Children's Choir among other titles and accolades. Grandson finally got the reward he signed up for; "free" t-shirt and Subway sandwich.:P He summed up the overall experience with this profound statement, "I'm not doing this next year. I thought it would be more fun." A few errands after then supper at Culver's. Still need to unload auction treasures.

Church yesterday, then Mrs. & I enjoyed a nice lunch at her favorite local Mexican. Great quality food, service, atmosphere. After which, we enjoyed a mid-afternoon siesta as the thunderstorms darkened the house.

Busy week. Meetings at church a couple nights, youngest grandsons spring music concert, oldest grandsons baseball games weather permitting. Yard needs mowed really bad but rain/ thunderstorms in the forecast TU-FR with up to 3" total.

In a little over an hour, the sky will begin to darken peaking around 3:09P, EST here. Our county is split for totality. I'm located just outside the totality path, but I'm staying home. 99% is close enough. Indy TV stations are all broadcasting the eclipse live starting now. Jim Cantore is at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway; William Shatner aka Captain Kirk is at the IU main campus...eclipse mania is in full swing. News reports Indianapolis will host the largest influx of any city in the nation. Dozens of extra flights into Indinapolis International have been scheduled. Got my cardboard glasses, welding helmet and even a solar lense for the telescope/camera if I get really motivated. See y'all on the other side of the moon.

Need to go to the store, BUT.....I will wait until AFTER the traffic jam has gone away...need something to kill the time....might make some saw dust?:WonderScratch:

Even ran a Router, today...

Back on wifes :OldManSmiley: Windows 10 computer after one of the cats decided on Monday that the Windows 11 computer looked like a good place to spray.

Luckily I just parted out a computer that was found "Curb Shopping" that had a good motherboard, and cpu that got this W10 computer back up. ;)

Now I need to figure out why the W11 computer goes to BIOS when I try booting it up.

I got everything cleaned but had to remove the CMOS battery to do so.

The computer was not powered up when the :ArguingSmileys:cat did it's thing.

BIOS may have reverted back to default instead of UEFI

Checked that Lew, seems as though it lost my RAID array settings. :WonderScratch:

Have to take some time to see if I can work my way through that UEFI BIOS and reestablish them.

:ChinScratch: Note to self, next build no RAID array for the OS drive. :BangingHead:

As much as I know I should, I don't run RAID. I have separate HDDs for file backups weekly and irregularly backup the OS to a USB HDD from W11

First time I've had a problem with a RAID array. That machine has two NVME M.2 drives for the OS and two 1TB HDD's for the data.

In this case it's Redundant Array of Independent Disks. It basically splits the information accross dual or more drives depending upon which version of RAID you're using.

I believe I've got the fix figured out.

It had been a couple of years since I set it up. I think I need to disconnect the data hdd's so the BIOS only sees the OS drives, and then add them back after I get the OS drives reestablished. It's seeing all four drives but doesn't know which to boot from.

I spent most of Monday in Madison helping my cousin assemble a multiple computer order and had to set the UEFI BIOS's on about twenty of those machines. The order was for fifty Workstations, two Masters, and a NAS  (Network Area Server) system. five of the Workstations and one of the Masters are for spares.

Now that my brain is somewhat unfried from doing so, I think I can get the W11 system back up. I hope.

If not then I'll just reformat and reload the whole system.

After doing those Workstations I've got the BIOS settings for the MSI B450M-A Pro Max II engraved/burned into my brain.

Cousin sent me home with one, he bought them by the case. Can't do a Raid array with the NVME M.2 drives on it. It only has space for one.

Couldn't have hit a better/worse spot to do so, depending on your point of view. <_<
