March 31, 20242 yr comment_332774 I need to replace the cutter on my EZ wood rougher. The one I have (I bought this tool used) is an R2. In trying to find the significance of this I see there are 3 different radii offered...a 1", a 2" (mine) and a 4". Is there a reason to buy a different radius than the 2" I have? I tried to find this on the web and did not get the answer to my question, though there was a number of videos about them. Report
March 31, 20242 yr comment_332776 The 1 would leave sharp 90° corners The 2 would leave rounded or softer corners. The 4 has a radius and would leave a potentially better finish but would not do sharp 90° corners well. If using it for roughing I would get the 1 or 2. Report
March 31, 20242 yr comment_332787 Fred, This PDF is a list of all the Easy Wood Tools cutters. For the rougher, as @Grandpadave52 indicated, the Square (Ci1-SQ) is mostly used for tenon making and spindle roughing. The Ci1-R2 can be used for tenon making or smoothing. The Ci1-R2 and Ci1-R4 have rounded corners where as the Ci1-SQ has 90° corners. The "R" -radius- value is the arc amount on the cutters 4 sides. R2 is slightly MORE rounded then the R4. I find the Ci1-R2 is great for smoothing the outside of a bowl. The slight radius and rounded corners help reduce catches and tool marks. Let me know if you need more information. April 10, 20242 yr Popular Post comment_333523 I just recently bought 10 of the 15 mm square radius ones from a website that I found on another forum they were 19.99 for 10 and free shipping. I am currently using one and it works great. Very happy with them. Edited April 10, 20242 yr by keithlong Report
