Popular Post steven newman Posted March 24, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted March 24, 2024 As it would be a nice place to store these things.... Has to be out of pine...Oak would corrode these...Need a scrollsaw.. And 3 pieces of 1 x 6 pine...like this one.. This one will be the lid of the case...planed because it is cupped a bit. May have put too big of a blade in the scrollsaw, was hard to make a few turns.. Will clean this up and out, tomorrow. Kind of hard to see..but... I wanted a solid glue-up.. as these 2 were also cupped,,,so I glued the cups together. Letting this sit until tomorrow..then plane it down smooth and square... I found a bit for a Brace drill that is a hair oversized...So I can drill out a spot for each Die....haven't decided whether I remove that one Die from the holder, yet. Still have these boards available.. 1/2" x 6" x 24" planks...Maybe a case for the "New Chisels"? Stay tuned.. 4DThinker, lew, Cal and 3 others 6 Quote

Grandpadave52 Posted March 24, 2024 Report Posted March 24, 2024 I'm a roadie too. Might want to consider extra space for when you score the corresponding taps. steven newman, lew, HARO50 and 1 other 3 1 Quote
Popular Post steven newman Posted March 25, 2024 Author Popular Post Report Posted March 25, 2024 Laundry Detail on a Monday...guess I will just have to get something done...like remove all of those clamps. Put away the scrollsaw.. Maybe joint a few edges? Then clean up after the Jumbo Jack gets done.. With a Stanley No. 4-1/2c, Type 11. Combo Square to check for any high spots.. Do a wee bit of lay out work.. And repeat for the other 5 dies... Looking for the correct sized bit for the brace drill.. See what we have in the Irwin Roll-up.. That might do the trick... Brace drill? Is a Buck Rogers No. 1950, by Millers Falls.. Had to count the full rotations ( 8 ) to set the depth...and NOT have that snail come through the bottom of the case.. Something like this? Go back and make sure the lid matches up.. This is the Hinge side...so... Installed the hinges..AFTER a bit of rounding over was done.. Using a block plane. Didn't want to chance the plane hitting the hinges.. all edges were rounded over, BTW..hinges? Plane for scale..Eggbeater drill with a 1/16" drill bit, pilot holes for those screws...make sure to clock the screws, too.. Flip things around. and get to the point where I can add a latch.. Hammer to bend the top down a bit, to match the round-over Opened a can of stain, the proper way.. Despite the opener being "Made in China", seems to work just fine... Labeled the lid, before the stain.. And let this dry a while...waiting on the clothes dryer, right now... Stay tuned... Gerald, lew, HARO50 and 3 others 6 Quote
