March 11, 20242 yr Popular Post Very interesting video John. I have kept up a daily log for maybe 30 years or so, not a diary like my grandma kept but just a note of the days weather and what I worked on. Son James came down to spend a week with us. We worked on a Bailey dog chair on Saturday and made templates for it. While he was visiting friends yesterday I ran a few errands and rough cut the parts for the chair out. At some point during the week I will let him clean the parts up with a pattern bit in the router. Also on Saturday James got his big ol' bird lens out and took a few more bird pics - I will post a few pics up later along with an interesting (if you are into birding) story to accompany them. For the week ahead it's primarily outside chores and visiting. Lawn is greening up quickly with all this warm weather we've had. Wednesday is a big supper planned for one of Julie's sister's birthday and I think we are headed to Atlanta Saturday AM to have lunch with our daughter and to see James off. A busy week in front of me. Edited March 11, 20242 yr by Cal
March 11, 20242 yr Popular Post All of Phyl's visiting family has left. Now there will be some uninterrupted shop time. Starting on a wormy mesquite bench for the newly remodeled master bath. Hope to get a lot done before my relatives arrive this coming weekend. Pics of the slab later.

March 11, 20242 yr Popular Post Not much accomplished over the weekend. Leaving in a bit for weekly "gruber" (gramps uber) services. Trip to Boilertown mid-week for haircut then some errands. See what the weather provides during the week. LOTS of sticks, branches and a few small limbs to gather. Grass is starting to really green up. I usually don't mow before the first or second week of April but may need to this year. Plenty of other projects to choose from...oh look a squirrel.

March 11, 20242 yr Popular Post began a 5 week project to repair some tables at church. 2 per week (maybe 3 last week), trim off damaged edges, glue on solid maple edges.
March 11, 20242 yr Popular Post I am converting a cheap stand by a slightly wider laminated waterfall top
March 11, 20242 yr Popular Post Made a wooden cane a la Paul Sellers. Red oak shaft and black walnut handle. Need to pick up a rubber tip tomorrow and add a bit more finish. The most time consuming part was changing the bit on the mortising machine, the 1/4" one did not want to come off. Photos to follow.
March 12, 20242 yr Popular Post Needed a few more long clamps. 48” in this case. two 24” extensions for my 60” pipe clamps.
