February 5, 20241 yr I have a Shopsmith 18" jig saw that I purchased about 30 yrs ago. I need the round blade guides for the upper and the lower blade supports. It appears to be a composite or phelinoc material and is round and about 1/4" dia. I recently retired and am working on my wood working again. Shopsmith no longer supports the saw, and can't offer any suggestions. I hate to have a tool that can't be used. Does anyone have any solutions? Also what about saw blades? I have tried jigsaw/scroll saw blades but they are very narrow and do not hold very well in the jaws on the saw.
February 6, 20241 yr Welcome aboard Tim, hopefully you will get some good tips & pointers from our SS folks here.
February 6, 20241 yr @Tim Glenn I did a Google search for round phenolic sticks and got an Amazon page that may have what you need. I'm using my phone and don't know how to get the Amazon site to show up here. Sorry. Edited February 6, 20241 yr by Gene Howe
February 6, 20241 yr Welcome @Tim Glenn. Glad this forum brought you here. I can't be much help since I'm not a SS owner. That said, do some searches within your area both on Craigslist and FB Marketplace for Shopsmith. Perhaps you can find a similar saw for parts. You might try searching eBay as well. Any chance you have the SS part number(s)? Good luck on your journey. Congrats on your retirement and renewal to woodworking. Hope to see you here sharing what's happening in your shop as well as keeping this thread active for your parts search.
