September 8, 20232 yr Popular Post OOOPS! I almost forgot it was Friday! Must have been that Labor Day thingy. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Things have been a bit hectic here "Two Weeks From Anywhere". Was on earlier and "Bruce" called wanting to know if I wanted to go with on another "Boneyard" run so I kind of forgot it was Friday. Bruce got a radio/cd player for the Astro van, may as well put it in while the dash is already half apart anyway. Still waiting on the ignition switch housing. He also picked up a headlight for a Ford Focus for a friend of his. Since they're usually destroyed by the fork truck when they move the vehicles around I got one good running board off of a Pilot. Figured it's probably the only way I'll get a set is to grab one if it's not destroyed. They're the same for both sides. If it stops drizzling here I'll try to get some photos of the progress of my two ongoing projects. As far as my plans for the weekend, I need to look up a range/neutral position switch for the Pilot. (Trips CEL when SWMBO drives it) Try to get some more done on the projects. (How much depends upon Bruces switch delivery and weather) That's my plans for the weekend, what's yours?
September 8, 20232 yr Popular Post I thought you were busy out working on that Astro! No plans here, still playing full time caregiver. Edited September 8, 20232 yr by Fred W. Hargis Jr
September 8, 20232 yr Popular Post Another gloomy overcast day of on/off drizzle and light showers so outside work is out. Lake Effect rain "they" say. I live 120+ miles away from Lake Michigan shore lines Helping SWMBO (while she's at work) do some fall deep cleaning. New power-lift chairs to be delivered Monday PM. Church responsibilities Sunday. I did stumble upon the new internet router ISP had sent out a couple of years ago. I'd stored it at the time recovering from my back surgery. Mainly because I needed to run new 5e cable which I finally accomplished a few weeks ago. I've been hunting for the router trying to remember where I'd put it. When I stumbled upon it hiding in plain sight, I remembered putting it in the last place I would ever look. Fortunatrly it was still there. In my defense, I was on some pretty powerful pain medicines at the time. It sure improved our connection speed and especially WiFi reception. Lessons learned....don't do drugs and always look in the last possible unsuspecting place first. Edited September 8, 20232 yr by Grandpadave52

September 8, 20232 yr Popular Post Supposed to get rain/thunderstorms the next few days but I suspect they will track like all the others have this summer. We live at the north end of the Cumberland Valley. Rain and storms followed the east and west mountains all summer leaving the valley quite dry. In fact the local water table just hit 80' below ground level. That's about 10' below average. Been messing with an elm platter that I want to engrave an image on the center. Need to figure out how to sand and fill the grain pores to get a really smooth surface so the engraved details are visible. Not the best species to use for detailed engraving. There's an elm bowl on the lathe waiting to be finished, too.
September 8, 20232 yr Popular Post going to a memorial service tomorrow, morning for a dear friend who's husband passed away almost 2 months go.

September 9, 20232 yr Popular Post Just got the truck loaded for Demo at Ag tomorrow. I think those totes get heavier every time I load them .
September 9, 20232 yr Popular Post Working on a scrollsawn sign for my other sister's kitchen. I'm slow. Got 28 or 30 more cuts to make in 3/4 poplar. Then, start on some toys and boxes, using the Shopsmith. Getting a head start on Christmas. Scrolling is enjoyable but oh so tedious. I'm only good for an hour or so at a time.
September 9, 20232 yr Still plugging along on the display cabinet in the upper garage. Got it hung a couple days ago, have made a fascia to go above it and painted all the parts yesterday, with Julie's help. Also got the lawn mowed yesterday - so that today I could watch the UGA game (noon) and mess around hanging the fascia and trim during commercial breaks. Then I have a couple shelves to cut out for it, glass for the doors was ordered a few days ago. When It's here I plan to etch the glass... but the end for this whole garage make over is in sight... I think...
September 10, 20232 yr Popular Post Spent the day in Pennsylvania yesterday at the family reunion. Had a nice time visiting with my cousins and the one aunt that keeps on ticking. She is amazing. Going to relax today and may venture to the shop for a look around.
