July 29, 20232 yr Popular Post Got one of these from Ken Rizza a couple of years ago and love it. Yesterday, it started throwing sparks from around the motor. Disassembled and discovered the brushes were gone!! Called their customer service and surprise- they had replacements in stock! Even more surprising they were only $5.00!!! They will be shipped out Monday. Notice the business end of this machine has all metal gearing and beefy bearings. Really well made. If you have one of these older styles, maybe a set of brushes on hand might be a good thing.
July 29, 20232 yr Good feedback Lew. Even better knowing they keep brushes on-hand. Shows to me they used a common, readily available brush/holder set which continues to remain current. Mark of a good design.
July 29, 20232 yr The commutator bars are usually straight not arched as this picture shows. Looks like Gerald beat me to it with same observation. Edited July 29, 20232 yr by HandyDan
July 29, 20232 yr Author I noticed that, too, but haven't received the brushes to see if they match the curve or it's just worn.
December 1, 20241 yr Popular Post Hi. Nube here from Delaware. WoodTurner and hobby furniture maker. I Was surfing looking for a quality 55degree angle drill and stumbled here.. The armature wear isn’t from one set of brushes. Haven’t seen wear this bad in decades. Most probably, with primary tasking is sanding, then this is probably the sanding graines seating in the softer brush and magnifying the normal armature wear. Most of you have probably surmised this. I am still buying this drill, but will buy with extra set of brushes and religiously blowing out the sanding grains and dust at end of business. Guess spoiled by Dewalt brushless….. lol. lol. lol.

The current drill/sander is sealed better than the one I had. So far it has performed flawlessly.
December 2, 20241 yr I would blow mine out after every use and it still only lasted around 1.5 years. I went to a 90 degree die grinder and like it much better.
