Vectric will do monthly projects. This month was a bbq sign. Seeing bbqing is my other hobby I thought why now. First time doing epoxy inlay. Tried to blend colors together for the fire,spatula and tongs fail. Oh well. No one will see but those who come to the house.

One trick is you use open grain wood like oak for such projects is to carve, spray or brush on some sanding sealer. Let dry then fill with epoxy. Epoxy sets then sand the surface clean before applying finish. That usually keeps the epoxy from seeping into the grain.  A reference for any future epoxy inlays you tackle.

There also is a VCarve inlay trick if you want to fill VCarve cuts with another wood.   Search "VCarve Iinlay" on Youtube for examples and how-to.

Thanks 4D. I did 2 coats of spray on shellac before the epoxy. I was just sloppy and did uneven pours. 
money day I do want to learn how to wood inlays at some point.

What kind of epoxy you use?  Easy or hard to do?  These are just paint.

When I get home tomorrow and take a pic of the 2 kind I use. One I really like one is meh. Lol the one I like is the Jess Crow Total boat can’t remember the other. I am experimenting with different colorings. 

To answer your other question: the biggest thing much like painting you need to seal the wood or you’ll get a ton of bleeding. It is pretty easy keep your pours shallow. When I do painting like you do, which you did a great job on those, I do my cuts at 0.125 where as with pours I do 0.05-0.1.
