Can I use the surface planer currently mounted on a power station, on my Shopsmith?

Not sure you could get the rpm necessary for a good cut. Why would you want to, anyway?

Well, I don't have the space to keep it on the stand, but I do have wall space to hang it, or tuck it under my workbench. Plus. They are asking 200 bucks!

So are you saying Gene that these planers RPM's are configured differently depending if they are purchased for a power station or powered by a Shopsmith?

Geeze John, IDK Fer shore. They might have gearing in them to increase their speed. Probably need to just rely on the attached motor. Maybe remove the legs and set it on a bench?? $200 is a steal, though. Be a bear to manipulate it off the wall and onto a bench every time you use it.

IIRC, they sold oe that attached to the power station and one that had its own motor.  I don't know how much they had in common or if you can convert second type to first type

Here's a link to photos of first type https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1310791143191142/?ref=browse_tab&referral_code=marketplace_top_picks&referral_story_type=top_picks

I have the stand mounted version and it doesn’t appear to be any different than the SS mounted version.
RPMs are at the high end of the range and fixed while the mounted version can be adjusted 3000-4100.
Either way for $200 I would try it.  If it works, sell off the power stand and basically you have a free planer.
If it doesn’t, you can expect to at least break even on selling the whole thing.

It was a scam Larry, I am sure of it. I asked to see the planer and schedule a visit, and they wanted money up front, no thanks.
