A very interesting and fun 13 minute video. Traditional shingle making in Romania. I never knew there was so much to a hand made shingle!

08:30 appt. at the VA hospital eye clinic. 45 minute drive to the HUGE hospital campus. I get lost every time I'm there.  And, the eye clinic can't be any farther from the campus entrance. I'll just park and hail a golf cart "taxi". Then, it's a long drive the barber shop for a hair cut and beard trim. We're going to a family reunion in Nebraska next week so, I gotta get all pretty....yeah, right.

A neighbor has lemon and plum trees and, he generously supplies us with their bounty. He's asked me to construct a dog watering and feeding station for his large dog. Only too happy to do it for him. Should be able to knock that out after I get back. Tuesday we'll be shopping and packing for the reunion trip.

:ChinScratch: Monday

The Weekend,...

Went "Curb Shopping" Saturday morning, bearings for DR chipper came. Rained most of yesterday.

Will be tearing down/reassembling chipper today, will have to make a hardware store run for parts I or Bruce probably have somewhere.

(Cheap small parts that are not worth taking the time trying to find them.)

Waiting on mail for v-belt for chipper "Out For Delivery".

Rest of week,...

Chipping the two big piles of brush, weather permitting.

Trying to talk Bruce out of that "Curb Shopping" find DR tow behind tiller. ;)

Thanks John. Not planning on getting a lot done. My oldest son is visiting from Texas for ten days. He wants to move here so we will be looking at property when not doing fun things. I do need to make a lidded box for a birthday present. Maybe I can get him out in the shop for a bit.

Got 1/4" of rain.  Not much but it's something.  Wet out there so hit the shop for today and see what the week brings.

Light rain here, now. Don’t look like it’s going to be enough to knock down the dust from the grass.

Work continues on residing the garden shed. Need another trip to Lowe’s for some additional supplies. The Maverick is nice but I do sometimes miss the full size bed especially with 12’ pieces

Replaced a damaged screen and made a new replacement screen Saturday plus some other honey-dos. Got my wish to be rained out yesterday as it rained almost all day. Only received .65", but revived some of the grass so mowing at least the now abundant buckhorn will be on the agenda sometime this week. Planning meeting at church tonight. On-line auction PU Wednesday; short drive over to next county seat. A couple baseball games and a few errands. Probably one or ten things will break requiring attention. Basically a typical week.

Saturday was a bust since the storm came in two hours after the show started. Made enough to say that the day was interesting. Now on to other projects this week on comissions.

:ChinScratch: Looks like I'm going to have to heat those old bearings to get them off the shaft. <_<

Spent most of the day at the furniture bank moving to the new shop area.  Moved the panel saw (that didn't fit thru any of the doors and banged up the vac hose holder on the top, the SawStop, some outfeed tables, router table, miter saw station, dust collector, bunch of shop vacs, leg assembly table, downdraft tables, four parts storage racks and literally thousands of leg, apron, and top pieces, a couple dozen sheets of 4x8 particle board, planer, two ShopSmiths,  table saw, couple of drill presses, couple of band saws, ambient air filters, re-arranged the tool room.  Dusty day.  My nose and eyelashes are still dusty.

Two electricians (father and son) and two plumbers were also there.   Not surprised to see that the electricians were Milwaukee Packout fans.

Normal Monday...Idiots behind the steering wheels...errands for the Boss this morning, not much else, today...

Shop floor is still too wet to do any wood working..

Might start on building a few trays for this box to use..

Instead of just lift them out, will look into pivoting hardware to where they lift up and out...like an old Tool Box...

I got (more) tired just reading that!

I had a pretty busy weekend.  Car shopping, on-line, Friday & Sat. mornings.  A few feelers put out and a heap of responses.

Got the front lawn mowed Saturday.  Somewhere over the weekend I managed to hang the upper cabinets and install doors.  Still need to adjust doors and install catches.

Big thunderstorms rolled through overnight Sunday - we got a grand total of 1/4".  We sure needed it, could use a lot more...

Does your Maverick have a trailer hitch Lew?  I recently bought one of these and it works as advertised.  Wish I had bought it 30 years ago!

:ChinScratch: Go H-F ;)

:ChinScratch: Could tell someone attempted to remove those chipper shaft bearings before.

Managed to get the pulley side apart, but the other side was the one that someone attempted to remove.

They just didn't use the right tool to begin with and buggered the end of the shaft up a bit trying to pound the shaft out through the bearing.

They had also removed both grease zerk fittings, and I think they tried getting the bearing to come loose by running the machine without the set screws, as they were missing on the failing bearing. Couldn't get it to budge using two 24" pipe wrenches, even after heating. <_<

So,... I used the right tool! :DevilLaughing:

Took a bit of file work to clean up the buggered end of the shaft to get the new bearing on but it's done!

I also added a 1/8" X 3 1/2" pipe nipple, and coupler to the pulley side bearing so I can grease that bearing without having to remove the belt guard. ;)

Sadly I didn't opt for the towing package. I may have to get the add on accessory tow mechanism. I rarely haul anything longer than 8' but that would be nice to have.

I bought one several years back after I traded to Supercrew F150 with 5.5' bed. Since I keep the spare in the bed it makes it even shorter. Don't use it often but it's great when hauling sheet goods, doors, ladders and even up to 16' lumber. Well worth the money. I usually just keep it in the bed since I have a locking hard cover.
