May 1, 20233 yr Popular Post Happy May Day. Phy invited me to dance around that pole with flower garlands on our heads. Taint happenin'.
May 1, 20233 yr Popular Post Had a good/busy weekend, although nothing got "done". More of the same busy-ness with nothing getting "done" over the next few days... Looks like a week of errands ahead of me. As I can squeeze in a little time here and there I will be working on cabinet doors - getting them fitted and painted maybe.
May 1, 20233 yr Monday? MONDAY???? Wake back up when Tuesday gets here.... have 4 items sitting in the shop, right now...waiting on glue to cure.....Film @ 2300 hrs...maybe...2 rehab apps today. 38 cloudy, rainy degrees outside...had a Thunderstorm yesterday afternoon ...with hail in it

May 1, 20233 yr Like Cal, busy weekend. Lot of windshield time between events. Weird weather along with the busyness. Weather and schedules finally aligned Saturday evening to hold the annual Easter Egg hunt for the two grandsons. They were happy. Mrs. & I crashed and burned yesterday afternoon. Busy week ahead. More errands and the like. After yesterday and today living in a wind tunnel, suspect stick patrol to resume ahead of mowing later in the week. Lots of other outside work as well as garage time needed, but still operating under winter rules: "when your tongue sticks to the tools, it's too cold to be in the shop."
May 1, 20233 yr Popular Post We might be retired but most of us still work.....Bandit, especially! But most of us don't get a steady pay check though, either.

Can't count our pensions and SS payments. Those come no matter how much work we do. And you are right about that ratio.
May 2, 20233 yr Popular Post Well..I actually work in the shop...on a Monday..... 2 front legs, and 2 seat supports....Mortises to follow sometime, today.. Eye Exam this morning, then the Boss has errands to run....will be later this afternoon before I can get back in the shop... We'll see..
May 2, 20233 yr Popular Post New fence needed some upgrades. You know when you get to the gate and have your hands full a foot release is essential. Old one was all wood but had been reworked twice in 20 years. I had this aluminum plate in shop so used it for the foot pedal. I reused cable from old latch but not long enough so add a bit of galvanized. Outside was simpler wil no need for the upper eye.

May 2, 20233 yr Love the foot pedal plate, although when I scrolled down to see it I was expecting the aluminum plate to be in the shape of a shoe outline. You know, to help those who aren't sure understand what to do to open the gate with their hands loaded. I'm retired, and when I got a statement from my retirement account it claimed I could withdraw more from it each month than I was being paid when I worked, Then SS deposits started showing up in my saving account and I wondered if I could live just on that amount since I no longer had to pay for parking permits, gas for the trip to work and back, money I spent for whatever would help my students or improve on the equipment provided for use that the state wouldn't buy, etc.. So far the answer is "yes, I can live on SS income alone" as my savings account has actually grown since my state deposits stopped. I'll let my retirement account recover from the pandemic era recession and when it gets back to pre-pandemic size I'll have another look at what that money could be used for.

Prayers to you. Hope yours goes as well as my wife's did a few years back. Took far longer to drive to the East side of Indy than it did for the prep, surgery and post. Went out for a late breakfast, then she wanted to shop for a while since we were in Indy. IIRC, had to wait about 6 weeks before they did the other eye. She wore glasses/contacts then. Hasn't worn glasses since.

I'll have to check now that we have Medicare, the co-pay before we got it was around $2,500.00. Wouldn't know what to think without that frosted glass blur.
