March 13, 20233 yr Have to chip in as my old design teacher gene is nagging me. The change in grain pattern between box and lid is a visual distraction that would not be there if the lid and box sides were adjacent sections from the same boards. Even the abrupt stop of the dovetail row at the lid is bothersome to my aesthetic sense. If the lid can't be cut after the box is assembled then more contrast such as a dark stain or paint on the lid would be better than mismatched grain patterns side by side. If you can't match it, then emphasize the difference. I love your craft skills and determination. Love seeing the sequence photos.
