Popular Post steven newman Posted March 9, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted March 9, 2023 Time to clear off the bench, and start on Box #2 out of the 3 boxes from Leftovers... Start up. need to get things sized...including the thin panel for the bottom.. Even had a choice of two lids... There was a problem, though... Neither were wide enough....Cut the ends to match the width of the lid..will trim the lid to match the box's length when the box is done... Bottom panel was too thin to run on the tablesaw...so We have ways.... Ok... lay out time! Tried out the NEW Cutting gauge, too... Meh..work in progress on sharpening the cutter... Yes, I do Pins first..."X" marks the waste areas...time for a "different saw" Geo. H. Bishop Co. No. 10 to be exact...Bar is the depth stop, btw... Chopping block is set up..chopping half way down ( about a 1/4") on the outside face, first.. Then flip over, and complete the chopping out ( couple chips flew straight back and nailed me on the nose....) Use these Pins to trace out the tails.. Bandsaw to cut on the waste side of those lines...trying to leave the lines..then chop out as before..then a dry fit... Little chunks in the corners needed pared out... Back was starting to hurt, Clothes Dryer was done...so.. I think I'll call it a day...almost got something done? Stay tuned.. Woodman, Harry Brink, lew and 6 others 9 Quote

Would multiple boxes be known as a baggle? I think you already had it right. More than one box and you've got boxes. However with dovetail corners there may be a closer relationship to groups of doves. A covey of boxes perhaps? 4D Edited March 9, 2023 by 4DThinker Cal, lew, steven newman and 4 others 7 Quote

Popular Post steven newman Posted March 10, 2023 Author Popular Post Report Posted March 10, 2023 This morning, clamps have been removed... We have work to do.. Pay $80 for a plane, I expect it to be put to work... Kept checking for square.. Then leveled the top and bottom edges.. Best way to check this? Flat surface...looking for any high spots...Next? Panel for the bottom of the box, needs to be glued onto the box... I think there is enough clamps to go around? To close up any gaps..now I get to sit and wait on the glue to dry Stay tuned.. Popular Post 4DThinker Posted March 11, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted March 11, 2023 Impressive clamp application there! If I didn't know any better I'd think you were using more clamps than needed just to keep your clamps happy and feeling wanted. 4D Cal, lew, Grandpadave52 and 3 others 6 Quote

steven newman Posted March 11, 2023 Author Report Posted March 11, 2023 Box is out of the clamps, needing cleaned up along the edges... Ends weren't too bad..the sides? Needed a tad of the top... Both edges...were done...Lid panel was a bit too wide..so.. We have ways....bottom still had sawmill marks on it... HAD....lid blank was also a bit too long.. Took care of that this morning...I also ripped a couple strips of scrap..and started mitering the ends... How else..but on a Mitrebox.....then some dry fits... Before the 1st clamps could go on.. Then work me way around .. Need more spring clamps! Finally, got the last side fitted.. The 2 Harbor Freight clamps are to pull the side in flush with the edge of the lid... Let this sit a spell...stay tuned... Grandpadave52, Cal, Larry Buskirk and 1 other 4 Quote
