February 13, 20233 yr Popular Post Finished up a couple turning tools I was working on. The weather has been so nice I go outside for awhile just to enjoy the fresh air. More shop time in store for this week too.
February 13, 20233 yr Popular Post Hoping temps rise a little. Need to restock the fridge and want to take my electric motorcycle with the plywood cargo box I made on the back to haul groceries in. Spent a few minutes cutting a new bottom for the drawer I'm making. Decided 1/2" ply would be better than the 1/4" ply I started with. Spent more time clearing off the outfeed table than the cuts themselves took. Vacuumed the floor of the CNC shop room. Swept up the area around the router table in my garage shop. Another two cases where clean up takes longer to do than making the messes did. Realize the bag on my dust collector for my drum sander needs dumping. Wednesday is trash day so I put a reminder note to take care of that Tuesday night on my fridge door. 4D
February 13, 20233 yr Popular Post Finally got a some lathe time and rough turned a little maple bowl. It's soaking in the soapy water until tomorrow then into the warming box to reach moisture equilibrium.
February 14, 20233 yr Popular Post Mostly was a slug today. My get-up & go got up and left the premises without me. Just wasn't feeling up to par. May search the garage for some classified documents next couple of days since it's supposed to warm up although rain expected. All depends on getting that go back. I realize I'm posting this a bit late, but guys you still have time to pick-up that Valentines gift for your someone special especially if you have a 24 hour CVS, Walgreens or Wallyworld near-by. If not, don't forget the truck stops or as a last resort, Waffle House...better than empty handed...or perhaps not
February 14, 20233 yr Popular Post Veneer tape arrived today. Took the tool base apart and spent 1/2 hour or so ironing on then trimming the veneer to the edges of the plywood stretchers. A little sandpaper run down each edge and they look pretty good. Much improved over the cut edges of the cheap plywood. With some articulating clamp faces for my parallel clamps I glued two stretchers to two legs each as the front and back set of legs for the tool base. Tomorrow morn I'll glue the other two stretchers in to complete the 4 legged structure. Although the 1/2 plywood will do as stretchers, it showed it's weakness when I tried closing up the mortise and tenons connection into each leg. A little too tight and the plywood would rather bend than close the joints. A heavy mallet against a scrap block for some impact shock did a better job persuading the joints to close. 4D

February 14, 20233 yr Popular Post Did the outdoor Flea Market thingy with Bruce this past weekend. After loading, unloading, reloading, to pooped to post yesterday. Did manage to sell a little more than a van load out of two vans, and a 12' enclosed trailer. (All were packed full) Temps reached 50° Saturday, 55° Sunday.
February 14, 20233 yr Morning to ya..shoptime yesterday was out of boredom...after I got home from the Boss' errands...AND hanging 3 flower pots on a wall..that I needed to NEW 2 step Stepladder for the top 2 planters... Will be going Camera Hunting, this week....that little Polaroid is going to get tossed, SOON. If you take a few photos...stop the camera for any reason, then start to take any more photos...it WILL delete the first set...
February 14, 20233 yr Popular Post New camera is on the way! Will be here Thursday! THEN things should a lot easier to post pictures..
February 14, 20233 yr Popular Post Just curious what camera you ordered? I find myself flush with cameras. Both dedicated video cameras (that can take photos) and dedicated photo cameras (that can shoot video). Sad part is that non are ever in reach when I'm thinking I should take a photo of what I've done.
February 14, 20233 yr Wife called Saturday while I was at the "Flea Market" about in tears. The washing machine part of the "Laundry Center" (All in One) quit working. I was too pooped to look at it yesterday, but got around to it this morning. Let's see now, a new equivalent replacement at todays prices would be in the $1600.00+ range and it would take a week to get here. On the other hand I've already replaced the drive assembly a couple of years ago, and a new control board for the washing machine is $238.00 plus tax. and the control board will be here tomorrow. And we ( I mean ) won't have to go through the hassle of moving out the old, so we could move in the new. (Would have to come out of back laundry room through kitchen, through front room, and out the front door, down four steps. Reverse procedure to bring in new. Just the thought of that makes my back hurt) Thankfully SWMBO is easy to please. Edited February 14, 20233 yr by Larry Buskirk

February 14, 20233 yr Popular Post I think there is a git up and go problem floating around cause I got it today . But my restless leg keeps kicking in to. Got a couple boxes done this weekend for my physical therapists. Made a little cane stand for the canes. Other than that not much, oh watched the Chiefs win.
February 14, 20233 yr Popular Post My git up works fine. My go comes and goes. Once I convince myself to git up and go do something I have to find a path that avoids the kitchen otherwise I'll stop for a snack and forget about the go.
