So glad those days are over, here at The Patriot Woodworker, whatever floats yer boat, and more power to ya. There was another forum that I occasionally visited. There was one "know it all" guy who I think eventually left (thankfully). Whatever the question was, his answer was always the same one or two finishes. IIRC it was Poly-ox or Osmo.
November 30, 20223 yr I use mainly Miniwax stains. I build what I want, when I want I used Miniwax to stain my cabinetry, floors and furniture and l continue to do so.. Edited November 30, 20223 yr by BillyJack

There are a lot of really good finishers out there who dedicate a lot of time to this field. A lot of what they say is worth noting, but they are also Ford/Chevy finishers on a lot of products. This is when you have to decide for yourself and weigh the differences Edited November 30, 20223 yr by BillyJack
November 30, 20223 yr While working at Jakobe Furniture…I found Jason the finisher there to be one of the best I’ve ran across in 37 years, but….Over the years I worked there, , several finishers would come in and talk to Jason. I don’t believe Jason was that good on his own. It took several years and several people feeding him the in and outs of various information they have obtained over a period of years.
November 30, 20223 yr Every finish has a place it is useful and looks good. It is just a matter of finding that place. So as BillyJack says you have to weight the characteristics of each finish and decide what is best for the project. However it seems most of us just decide on a easy way and stick to it.
