Awesome 4D. Love a happy ending especially when a power tool is saved from the scrappers. Happy sawing!

So true. In my tool collecting/using history only one other tool needed some love.  My old Hitachi Jointer/Planer started skipping while boards were run through it.  It still ran and planed, but the skipping left subtle burn/rub spots on the wood surface each time it skipped.   After letting a couple students use my shop to make a project/gift for another professor one summer I felt embarrassed/apologetic for the first time when we used the planer.  A day later after the students had left I took the cover off the chain drive on the side, and found a tensioner on the chain had failed which would let the loose chain skip occasionally.   15 minutes to come up with a replacement/fix and put the cover back on and my jointer/planer was running like new again.  I've been using that tool for almost every project I've done since buying it in the 1980s.  I was keeping an eye out for a replacement/upgrade.   With the skip fixed those traitorous  thoughts have disappeared.   :)
