My wife wants me to make a segmented bowl similar to the one I made her. I have the six rings glued together, 18 segments in each ring. The rings are 12” in diameter. They are walnut and cherry. I am thinking a solid cherry bottom.

Looks good.  Miters are hard to get right.  You seem to have it covered.

I made a miter sled.

Good start. I will make a suggestion: don't use solid for bottom. Because of shrinkage it is not a matter of will it but when the joint will fail.

Not being a turner, I'm confused. (so, what's new)  How would one make a non solid bottom for that bowl.
