October 31, 20223 yr Popular Post Good Monday morning! Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks! Welcome new members To view our newest members and welcome them to our digs, please see our Members Page, you can "Sort" by join date and click on their names and be taken to their profile page where you can leave a message of welcome. Thank you for making our newest folks feel welcome. Halloween It's that time of year again, please stay safe and sane and watch out for those little kids running across the street and between parked cars. My wife and I are empty nesters tonight, so we'll just hang loose and watch the little ghouls come to our door and we'll hand out candy. Anyone have any suggestions for their favorite spooky movies to watch today? I always loved the classics, but my kids have had me sit with them through some of the more scarier movies made in recent years, I always love a good "make me jump thriller"! I'm not into the bloody slasher stabbing stuff, but I do love a good Supernatural movie now and then! And remember, no drinking and driving!
October 31, 20223 yr Popular Post Started working on this yesterday. Needed to pull the lower left corner and it's bracing out 1 1/4- 1 1/2" after gaining access to the inner panel. The upper left seam was separated by about 1/2" before pulling things back together. Will be installing the replacement patch panel today after a bit of clean up. More later...
October 31, 20223 yr Popular Post Wet and dreary outside. Going to the shop and work on some more Christmas items.
October 31, 20223 yr Popular Post Currently like most of Central Indiana, anticipating the special news update report at 10A EST from Delphi, IN.
October 31, 20223 yr Popular Post Spent most of the weekend cleaning the yard and then started on preparing the garden for the winter. All of the yard leaves will go onto the garden after I get the garlic planted. Walnut bowl blanks are slowly loosing their moisture. Probably a week to go before the final turning.
October 31, 20223 yr Popular Post Slept in this morning Being it is a Monday, nothing much going on. 59 cloudy degrees outside...meh...
October 31, 20223 yr Popular Post Working the J.O.B. I enjoy the work but find the ever increasing amounts of woke nonsense disgusting. Planning and staging parts to install a davit crane and electric winch in the shop. Planning to mount on the loft, will have a 120 degree 4' swing over the main floor area with 10' of lift. Logs are heavy. Crane and winch are rated at #1100 and I'm relying on the fact that's 2-3x more than I will ever need. Crane will be bolted to a 2x6 and the underlying joist. The 2x6 will be bolted to each joist for 8' toward the rear wall. Next project after that will be to move the air compressor out of the shop and into an adjacent building and plumb in a line back into to the shop. Need to get rid of that noise. I might actually get to turn some wood again someday. I'm already having withdrawals. .40
October 31, 20223 yr Popular Post Some errands to accomplish today and tomorrow. Remainder of the week lots of outside work to be done. Weather forecast this week beyond today is amazing for 1st week of November in Indiana. Happy Halloween to all y'all. Only 53 shopping days (or project completion days) remain until Christmas. Let the procrastination commence.
November 1, 20223 yr Popular Post Hey actually got something done today. Got concrete pads set as skirting for sons storage building on two sides. Hope to get the back done tomorrow. Got home and did final sanding and applied stain to audio cabinet.
November 1, 20223 yr Decided to bring some lumber home and make some nightstands at home for the furniture bank. I started having the planer blow the circuit breaker. Then I noticed some sparking in the motor. Next board stopped halfway thru. Thought maybe it was just overheating, so I let it sit a while. Motor does not start now. No reset button. 38 years old and they have not imported this model for probably 30 years. Proprietary integral motor. I don't think there's any chance of a repair or getting parts. Hitatchi F1000A RIP.
November 1, 20223 yr I've got my eye on this one if my Dewalt ever gives up the ghost. Radial carbide cutter out of the box. https://www.baileigh.com/benchtop-planer-ip-1306 .40

November 3, 20223 yr Popular Post A bit of progress. Repair panels from Mill Supply Co. www.millsupply.com . I'll post more photos when the Bondo work is done. Should take about one cup worth of Bondo to feather this panel in.

Finally, after 7-1/2+ years, Justice has been served. Richard Allen the accused assailant for the brutal murders of two young, Delphi, Indiana girls on February 17th, 2017 was found guilty an hour or so ago on all four counts of murder. This case received not only attention in Indiana, but national and international focus as well. Both of my granddaughters swam against one of the girls as well as her older sister. I also worked for many years with one of the girls grandfather. May healing begin for the families of both girls, the small community of Delphi (about an hour north of us) and the state of Indiana. @John Morris...if this update is inappropriate and needs to be removed, I understand.
November 12, 20241 yr Popular Post I saw that conviction on the news, best news I've heard in some time. I have no idea if IN has the death penalty, but that guys deserves it.

Sentencing has been deferred until mid December but sounds like the maximum he could receive is 130 years in this case.
