Featured Replies

Friday

That's what SWMBO told me. <_<

Wonder where the rest of the week went? :WonderScratch:

Guess I was enjoying the halfways decent weather while it lasts. :Praise:

Hopefully it will last a bit longer. :DayDreaming:

Not much else happening here "Two Weeks From Anywhere."

Busier than a one-arm paper hanger.  Have had plumbers at the house this week.  All of the 60yr old galvanized fresh water pipe under the house has been replaced with 1" pex.  House is in an uproar, holes in the wall everything out of cabinets under sinks and showers.  All valves replaced and new copper standoffs installed.  Many of the valve inlets were clogged with corroded metal from the old pipes.  Adam (best plumber in Texas) did me a solid and made a hot water loop back to the tankless water heater and hooked up the recirculation pump.  Now have instant hot water at every tap.

Birthday party for yours truly tomorrow evening.  Mrs. Boss is frantic.  New deck furniture (assembly required) being delivered today.  Weekend shop time is going to take a hit.

Get two more sets if Limbert table legs assembled. Possibly two more mesquite rounds de nuded. And, it's time to get some propane tanks filled. Gotta have it at least 75° to pour resin.

Need to tune the planer. It's giving me ridges again. Probably need to adjust the little spiral blades.

It's all part of the process but, machine maintenance and, stuff like trips for propane sure slows my progress. As if I weren't slow enough, already.:(

Another nice weekend coming.  Not as nice as last week but I'll take it.  Brothers and sisters coming over Saturday.  Probably our last outdoor get together for the year.  Chopping leaves is on the agenda too.

yesterday was a bust for the shop work or anything related. shooting range early couple three hours, then off to lunch and a pizelle party, if thats how is spelled a italian sweet, as was the barley pop required to ingest during parte'

today, finish unloading first trailer of goods picked up earlier in week, as this trailer is a car hauler i've always made sure good rubber on it, but alas, have allowed my SIL to use quite often, with suggestion he pay attention to its shoes, seems that was a mute conversation, guess if you don't own it, you dont' concern yourself with it. Gonna have to grab a couple new tires next day or so, gonna put spare on for the real ugly one, and grab two new for another on trailer and spare. Sold one of the cargo trailers yesterday, good riddance, may get needed space back in yard, supposedly a couple gents or gals coming to look at a couple trucks for sale. need'm gone,

if i get trailer unloaded and tire on, gonna maybe jet down and grab two pallets of hardwood i made a deal on, if not, well then theres always next week.

happy friday

BTDT, but with my grandson. Got my trailer back and one tire had thrown chunks and had a large blister on it. When I asked if he noticed it bouncing around he said it was just fine!

yeah, sure is a disappointment when borrowers don't return something as they took it, me thinks i'll end the lending thing, and just charge rent like the big box stores, then maybe i'll feel better about the loan, i'm just a sucka for needy folks

Yesterday Mrs. Grandma Grandpadave and I drove East to next county seat to PU online auction purchases. Made a quick stop at Menards first. She was very frustrated with me when I told her she couldn't purchase this or that for fear of no room to haul in Trailblazer. I did allow purchase of extra Halloween candy, laundry dertergent and toilet bowl cleaner.;) On to auction site...didn't see any zebras this time:lol:. After, I rewarded her with late lunch at a local barbecue place. Great pulled pork sandwiches especially piled with Cole slaw, baked beans and genuine southern style sweet tea.

Still need to unload auction items, then go on a pick-up stick quest in prep to hopefully mow yard for last time. Also need to replace daytime driving bulbs on her Jeep. DS is out. Going with LEDs. RS doesn't look too difficult. LS, have to remove intake air piping, air filter box and a couple other items. Jeep did provide an access opening removable cover through the left inner fender well. Would like to know whose hand they used to size the opening. Mine won't fit.<_<

Youngest granddaughter has a swim meet tomorrow. It will be live streamed. Hopefully I can catch some of it. Edit: well looks like meet is tonight vs tomorrow and live stream link is now MIA? :WonderScratch: Church responsibilities Sunday. Lots of other projects both outside and inside before winter arrives.

Got my flu shot and the covid booster yesterday at the VA. Kinda stiff and sore today. Did get both rough turned walnut bowls out of the soak and into the drying box. Probably take about a week to reach equilibrium.

Busy week, alot of errands to run after work plus some house repairs to get done.  Arm was sore towards end of week so I took a pain pill last night at 2100.  Just got up, its 1230.:D

Went to the "Citizen Collection Center" this morning to get rid of the deck furniture packing crates.  Spotted some wood that someone dropped off this morning and brought it home.

Can anyone identify this log?  I'm thinking it's crepe myrtle?????

Also picked up some pecan and put Anchor Seal on the ends of all.

I stayed far away from there for a long time.  I thought that's where they make the Soylent Green.

Sweet scores on your log pieces. Bark appears consistent with crepe myrtle but just a guess. Personally I haven't seen enough of it to verify.

was a busy weekend for me, Thursday and Friday I glued up 43 pizza peels. also ran 45 minutes away to the lumber yard to get 75 bf each of maple, walnut, and cherry, Saturday I planed the PP's flat, and glued up enough stock to make 18 pig and cow shaped boards, by then it was warm enough to blow all the leaves onto a pile in the back yard. Went to fire up the problematic push mower to mulch them up and it's a no-go. ok pull off the carb clean up everything put it back together and it started. whoo hoo. didn't run right and stalled as soon as I put a load on it. ok time to pass this one along and buy a new cheap mower. ok we'll just hit the big box store on the way to dinner with friends to celebrate our anniversaries. all three couple's anniversaries are within 7 days, although 22 years between ours and the youngest couple.
got the mower, 10% off for end of season, and a few other things. But forgot more glue, down to a gallon and a half so it's panic time for this guy. got to the restaurant just in time to find out that one couple was home with covid. just 4 now so we'll have a more intimate conversation and dinner. restaurant is short staffed, no bartender, that means no warm-up drinks before having a few drinks with dinner. I guess if people in other states can have a meal without a cocktail, this Wisconsinite can do it also. Darn near killed me because blood was starting to collect in my alcohol stream. Meal was excellent and the Elk's lode was on the way home so we just met there for a beverage. Saturday was a great day.

Sunday was put the mower together, mulch the leaves, clean up the yard, water and turn the compost pile (I had added 3-400 gallons of shavings so far this weekend, so it needed water and dirt mixed in to get those little bacteria dudes and dudettes working. adjust the second gear band on my truck transmission, a few more things in the shop and now I'm wasting time watching football. Oh well, tomorrows another day.

Jeez, John, and I felt like I accomplished something by just finding the lawn rake!

Didn't get the planer blades adjusted. Only got one set of legs done. Didn't even bring the next mesquite round in for cleaning. Not much accomplished Sat. and Sun. But, I sure was busy. Just not much to show for it.:OldManSmiley: Hopefully today, Monday, will be better. ^_^
