Friday October 7th 2022-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Friday

:WonderScratch: Wonder where the past week went. <_<

No matter, here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" it looks like we better get out those winter clothes.

Forecast calls for 28° tonight, and a tough time making it to 50° today.

Probably better get the snowblower, and shovels ready.

Still have to get the Pilot "Mouse Motel" project accomplished.

Have to pull the deck off the zero-turn to repair damage done by a driven into the ground flag stake the girls next door put in without telling anyone. :angry:They're trying to get me to pay for the stake, but that's not going to happen. Asked them if they'd like to pay for a new deck due to the tear the stake tore into the deck. They about fell over when I showed them replacing the deck would cost over $700.00. Told them if I ever find another one of those stakes without being told about it they'll get it back in a way they wouldn't want.

So, What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Howdy and Mornin' y'all.  We are planning a short vacation Sunday - Wed this week.  I'm not sure if I will get any shop time Saturday depending on extra items on the honeydo list but for sure later in the week after our return.  Traveling to Corpus Christ and Port Aransas to take in the sights and do a little fishing.

I joined AAW earlier this week.  Reception has been kind of tepid so far but they haven't had a chance to get used to me yet.  In any case, more exposure to the wider world of turning can only be a good thing....right.  I might learn something if I'm not real careful.

Looks like a less-than-nice weekend here weather-wise, so I may start sorting wood for a pet urn I need to make.

Still recovering from last couple days. Finally got a fairly large limb cut up along with lots wild/second growth and moved to burn pile. Won't be burning for some time since we're in a grass/ brush pile fire alert plus too much standing dry corn fields across the fences. Probably will continue doing more today and through weekend while it's cool along with outside winter preparation work.

Youngest grandson's soccer match tomorrow morning followed by a few errands. Youngest granddaughter begins her second collegiate swim season too. It'll be live streamed. Need to get back on detailing the Trailblazer to bring that project to completion. Sunday AM church responsibilities, then late afternoon monthly Family Fun Night fellowship.

Had a nice visit yesterday with our DIL and the 5 Y.O. granddaughter. DIL brought Pesole. It was yummy! I'm not supposed to eat corn....among lots of othe good stuff... due to a bout with diverticulitis....but I scarfed up that Mexican hominy soup. Just made sure everything was well chewed.

So, today it's back to Limbert tables.  One is nearly fully assembled. Fred warned me about the doweling. Now I know why.

There ought be a way to use pocket screws but, I can't figure how. I sure ain't too proud to use 'em.

Sometime next week, we should be ready for those mesquite "rounds" that will be the table tops.

Need to get some hinges installed..

Wedding is all over, now we can relax a little, and get back to living, honey do's, deferred maintenance on the home, finish up some woodworking projects, and create new ones, as beautiful as our child's wedding was, I am glad it's over, and our life can get back to some resemblance of normalcy. I can't believe how tired me and the missus was the days after the wedding, we slept, and regrouped, and got our sanity back, it felt like I was on a 6 month bender and recovering. It's amazing how all the planning and other stuff really taxes the mind without even knowing it, till it's all over. :)

So true Dab, so true. Fortunately I don't have to participate in our daughters marriage on a daily basis as well! The wedding was enough, giving my first baby away like that, man, choked up, a dad is never ready.

A handful of us went to the furniture bank's new thrift store and mounted 17 4x8' sheets of slat board on the front walls to hang mirrors and framed artwork.  Some were on stud walls and some were on concrete block walls.  they went up 96" from about 24" off the floor.  That stuff can get heavy (particle board core) when you don't have much to hang on to and have to lift 6' up in the air.

Well, it's the end of summer, so time's being spent cleaning up dead or dying plants and generally getting the yard cleaned. Took apart a 5' x 10', two-bin compost setup and used everything in it to partly fill a hollow dug for a pond many years ago. LOML didn't like the compost in her flower beds (Too many weed seeds.) and I didn't need the extra work of lining and finishing another pond! Floating plants in the main pond will have to be removed once the cold kills them off, which could be tonight. Funny, but it wasn't this much work when I set the pond up 35 years ago! :WonderScratch:

And on a WW note, I'm finally getting around to finishing a keepsake box started before our son was diagnosed with cancer about 5 1/2 years ago. It was to be a Christmas present for a good friend, and this year it will be! HAPPY FRIDAY, everyone!!

our pond liner has a leak, as the water level went down way too fast to be evaporation over night.....so i'll need to get a new liner next spring.  and remove all the rocks, and dirt, and plants....then reprofile the pond sides and bottom a bit, and then new liner in, and put all the rocks back, and some dirt and even more rocks so the liner is fully covered.  otherwise, the deer and coyotes put holes into it and then i need a new liner.....wash, rinse, repeat....  had 15 gold fish a month ago, down to 3 last week, and today:  just one remains.  the coyotes eat them.  aargh.

I'd have some new coyote pelts. :MachineGun:

We have company in; sister & BIL motoring through on their southern migration from upstate NY.  They came in Tuesday and will leave out Sunday.

I have started a dresser for our daughter.  Carcass panels have been cut out and in a break from my normal routine I have been applying finish before assembly.  I may start the assembly today, we'll see how things go.

Georgia Bulldogs play today, or I hope they do anyhow.  Last two weeks have been kinda rough... but they are still my Dawgs :)

In between the visiting, finishing and just enjoying the fall weather the wife & I are packing and planning for an upcoming big trip next week.

Yesterday was my wife’s birthday so no woodworking. I did slip off

to the range to sight in two rifles early but the rest of the day was for her.

today we started making cutting boards. All of a sudden I have gotten several orders for them so I guess we will gear up and make some till Christmas.

Got some walnut, cherry and maple cut this morning. Getting ready for a busy day in the shop.

Working the lumber up for cabinet almost done for sides and doors are glued up yesterday. Looking at stain but the grainfiller changes it so will have to add some Jacobean to give the dark highlights in filled areas. Also started working on putting new to me router in table and wondering how to add the Kreg jig to CMS , but that is another story.
