July 30, 20223 yr I was following a discussion on paste somewhere, and Lundmark really has a following, it was talked up quite a bit. I may give it a shot if I ever use up the Johnson's I have on hand.
July 30, 20223 yr I don't use a lot of wax but do use and expensive one on my turnings: Renaissance Wax. I also have some Briwax which comes in colors too and looked for it on web is at 21 at Amazon , seems it used to be about 11.

Is it common to wax wood before applying finish? I internet'd and hear, "Yes, it is done" but how common? A gal asked if I used beeswax on wood .... should have said, "I'm looking into it" but really, I was not sure it was done. I've got a few cans of JCS inbound. A return for a good deed, it seems. Cannot wait to take the wings off the TS and clean up the whole thing with 0000 and wax.

July 30, 20223 yr I've never heard of it nor done it. I've seen turners use a wax while sanding but the finish is the wax and is buffed.

I'll hit one tomorrow. In the mean time, I've emailed SC Johnson a request for one case. To be distributed at cost. Woodman, did you ever get that one case?

February 17, 20251 yr Popular Post No, a few cans during the summer, but I had to beg. And it was Covid; the cans sat several days in a UPS truck in Texas. Arrived a huge wet mess, with UPS not caring one bit the wax separated and leaked all over the place; their solution was to triple bag the cans. I plan on investigating citrus solvents and both beeswax and paraffin, and brew my own. "Standard" and "Vegan", though I'm probably inventing the marketing strategy as I go along.
