Popular Post Gerald Posted July 9, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted July 9, 2022 Had this vase in shop for a while. Made from root of black walnut off city property. Had a rock on bottom when turning and messed up a hollowing bit. During drying process it cracked top to bottom. Today hot started opening it up to be laced. hot the eyes drilled and chamfered. Then time to take the tenon off. Worked somewhat but not complete using a cone shaped jamb chuck. started coloring the inside with black Gesso on lower inside and red acrylic on upper inside. More tomorrow I hope. lew, Cal, Woodman and 4 others 7 Quote
lew Posted July 9, 2022 Report Posted July 9, 2022 That’s going to be really cool! Gotta ask, what is the mahogany colored object to the right of the turning in the last picture? Gerald, Fred W. Hargis Jr and Cal 2 1 Quote

That is a pepper mill. The wife did not like the shape and I never put it together but it is another project on the summer list. Oh it is walnut. Thanks for the comments, just hope it lives up to the picture in my imagination . Edited July 9, 2022 by Gerald lew and Cal 2 Quote

Popular Post Gerald Posted July 12, 2022 Author Popular Post Report Posted July 12, 2022 Got a a lot done today.Watco was dry so buffed it first. Painted the placket and lace eyes. Then burned and filled in stitches with some paint. Gunny, HandyDan, Artie and 2 others 5 Quote
Gerald Posted July 13, 2022 Author Report Posted July 13, 2022 It is done. Lacing was frustrating. Finally drilled the holes larger. Used a wire to thread from inside. lew, Cal and Artie 3 Quote
lew Posted July 13, 2022 Report Posted July 13, 2022 I like how the cord forms straight lines. I’ve tried “laces” from different gauge wires. Never can get it to have nice straight lines. Really nice work. Cal, Artie and Gerald 2 1 Quote
