June 17, 20224 yr Popular Post Friday again. Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" I'll probably be spending the weekend mowing now that the "Muggies" have moved on for a couple of days. Could have sworn I could hear the grass growing the past few days. So, thats my weekend agenda what's yours?
June 17, 20224 yr Popular Post Clean x 3. Organize x 4. Been in this shop for close to 18 months. Still got a mess. Gotta get things from unorganized chaos to, at least semi orderly chaos.
June 17, 20224 yr Popular Post Gotta get caught up on yard stuff. Still have a few areas I couldn't mow last Friday, weeds in the flowers and garden, and limbs to pick up from the storm.

Good luck with that, not only do I have basically the same list I did hear the grass growing.
June 17, 20224 yr Popular Post Sorta taking today off. Heat was brutal this week. Good news, granddaughter's Trailblazer is running again. Still have the A/C to recharge, one headlight to de-haze + polish, new grill + trim to install and some other detail work, but the light at the end of the tunnel is no longer attached to a train. Busy weekend in-store. Headed out In a bit across county to PU some auction 1 items; later help set-up big top tent at church for our one day VBS event Saturday. Tomorrow, monthly men's breakfast, then quick trip across town to PU auction 2 items, back to church for VBS. Hopefully home by 7P? Sunday, church, followed by (2) coney dogs + sherbet after, visit my step-father, then home. Maybe a quick zzzzzz later. We'll see. What ever all' y'all are doing be safe, keep cool and have a blessed and happy Father's Day!
June 17, 20224 yr Popular Post Went out to estate to pick up some left over tools and wood and try to sell at woodturners meeting tomorrow. Will be doing part of the demos tomorrow as well as doing audio/video work. Heat index supposed to get to 109 today and tomorrow . Wish I could just button up the house and hibernate. By the way on left over tools. There was stuff there that I would not have wanted even 20 years ago. It is amazing how much we save for that just in case event.
June 17, 20224 yr Popular Post Just got word that we're invited Sunday, to our #2 son's for a Father's day meal. #2's twin brother and, family was also invited but, #1's wife and 4 year old daughter just tested positive for covid. Tough break for them. She (mom) was just released to return to work (flight attendant) after 3 months off for a back and neck injury sustained when she was rear ended. #1 has no symptoms...yet. He believes he had covid early on last year. Had symptoms but, never got tested.
June 18, 20224 yr Popular Post trying to get a lid for a box made... Handsaw to cut these for length.... Maybe do a bit of rust hunting, tomorrow?

Similar place, a rambling 1900s house. HUGE third floor front attic-type 20' to the peak, exposed beams. The problem is that "white elephant" properties are now all the rage. And the prices . . . The deck is clear. I'll lay out stout slats for a sunshade, look at them for a while while pondering a frame. Today, 70˚ and breezy. Lawn chair in the shade, in the park, listening to a pickup jazz band. 15 hours ago, Gerald said: There was stuff there that I would not have wanted even 20 years ago. How true. People sometimes offer me their crap in payment / partial payment, thinking they're doing me a favor? And are surprised when I say, "I wouldn't pay $5 for that; I've no need for it and don't want to bother hauling / storing / selling it". In 2003 I purged before relocating to California. Coming back two years later, I was dumfounded to discover some boxes had not even been unpacked.
June 18, 20224 yr Popular Post Did a live edge pick tray yesterday for a buddy; it'll likely get a coat of something. After I hit one edge with the little planer. And this little tray this morning. Love the way the edges are so tight. It is sanded to 220, then hand-scraped. The scraping is what makes the grain pop. This afternoon I tried resawing the hemlock joist but it kept shutting my saw off. The wood must be tougher than I realized. And maybe I need more amperage or more wire?
June 19, 20224 yr Author Think I should have stayed in bed today. Started out to mow next door but the battery was low on the zero turn. So I put the charger on it and decided to do the string mowing only to find the lower handle section had broken by the bolt hole. So I take the handle apart and weld it back together, remount the top section and go do the string mowing while the battery is charging. Get done with that and check the zero turn. Cranks over great but won't fire up. Think it's the ignition switch, no hour meter display and no voltage to fuel solenoid with switch on. Then when I decide to sit down for a break noticed my wedding band is gone. Doesn't make sense because I usually have to struggle with it to get it over the knuckle. Yep, should have stayed in bed.

A little touch-up with sanding blocks, a discrete wipe with spirit shellac, two days on a sunny windowsill, careful 0000 buff, and done. Now the hard part. To gift it to an ungrateful Hugh, the guitar picker.
