I turned a new bowl today. Going to try a new finish method a friend was telling me about. He puts walnut oil on walnut, let’s it dry and then puts a poly over that. He said it is a big difference from the one without walnut oil. This is my walnut bowl I turned today. It has danish oil on it. I will let it dry and put on the poly.

Thanks Lew. My favorite wood also. Next would probably be Bradford pear.

Great looking bowl

Nice Rusty.  Finish looks great as it sits.

Beautiful Rusty, be sure to post those next pics after the poly has been applied.

Most excellent Rusty! I agree with Dan, finish looks great as it sits. Thanks for sharing.

Change of plans. I just remembered that I used some homemade abrasive paste which has mineral oil and beeswax and can’t put a finish over that. I have a small hard maple bowl I just turned that I will try it on.

Found this, with the usual caveat that you can't believe everything you read on the internet.  Especially when it comes to finishing.
