TEAK WORK

I get it from a supplier in Los Angeles. Definitely the premier wood for outdoors including boats but it is really expensive at this point.

So the teak work continues. This boat job is turning into the Winchester House. Finished two bifold doors today and they are ready to sand. Teak is really nasty to work with. Kind of like concrete with wood grain imbedded. I included a picture of a bimetal bandsaw blade after just a minor amount of resawing.

All of the tools go running?

Conspiracy! :OldManSmiley: My carefully-shaped pieces of project wood do that when they see me laying out glue and clamps. :ph34r:

@Masonsailor

Man did this thread bring back some memories. :DayDreaming:

Did a lot of Teak work when I worked at Liberty Coach.

(Custom Motorhomes built in Prevost busses.)

Have you got the green color worn off your hands yet?

Next they want a ski locker built into the deck of the boat. These people have too much money. It will turn most of the deck into a ski locker. Fortunately it will be a drop in so it can be fabricated in the shop.

More teak work today but for my boat. Years ago my wife put a basket/shoe rack system on a vertical stainless steel pole in our stateroom. She thought that the baskets were stainless steel which they were not. A magnet might have been in order but now years later they have corroded and failed. I decided to make new ones out of teak. It involved resawing some 8/4 teak down to 4/4 and then using the Shaper Origin to make new ones. I found some 1” stainless steel stop collars to use to hold them up on the pole.

Got it done today despite having to take breaks to elevate the leg. I’ll post a picture once it’s installed on the boat.

So the goal here was to make it a somewhat Star Trek theme. Opinions welcome 😎

Tiger shark theme. :CowboyPistol:

Beautiful assembly of wood! (What a rack! :P) You’ve got everything in there.

And the shoe rack is aces as well!
