One note I left was that when I made the legs from walnut the outer edge of the legs would have a slight arc round over to echo the circle above. Another note was to articulate the leg assembly, perhaps by making the stretcher a little thinner than the two vertical parts. De-emphasize the stretcher to draw focus to the curving leg. Then spend some iteration time adding a little contour to the leg surfaces to see if it adds visual interest. I've got sketchbooks dating back to my college years with furniture ideas galore. I need to find some cheap retail spaces and start "Ye Old Furniture Shoppe" or some such.
May 22, 20224 yr Author Popular Post This is a baby Twister table. Also used as a plant stand until the plant died. All teak, but not much of it. These twister tables I like to make when I've just got a little bit of some wood left over from a larger project. I generally look at the direction of the wood grain and draw a line parallel to it near an edge. I trim to that line with the band saw and run the edge across the jointer. Then back to the band saw to rib a strip, the join the edge, then repeat 9 more times for 10 strips with one good face. I run them through my drum sander bandsawn edge up to smooth them out. Drill the holes at my drill press with a fence and stop block so they'll all be in the same place. I assemble the lattice base before drilling holes in the round top. The assembled cylinder shows me right where the holes need to be around the edge of the top. This little teak twister looks nice. I believe the nicest one I've ever made was cherry wood and for a customer. On that one the strips got a little more attention to take the sharp edges off with a small bevel. 4D

The vinyl has hit it's half life though and is sticky, although the padding and mechanism is in perfect shape. What I need is a slip cover for it. Not in any hurry to revive the recliner or the use of the table as I live alone in a large house with more furniture than I need including several other places to sit comfortably and several tables to choose from. I keep the house because of a 40'x40' garage half used for my shop tools and a basement room 12'x18'ish that I have a CNC in along with several other support tools and work bench. 4D
