It might feel like Monday to you John if you had the day off yesterday :D

Over the long weekend I did piddle around with several different projects.  Some garage cleaning, be working on that for a while yet.  I got window sash #2 out and waxed the chalk paint finish and I have two mirrors for this sash ready for the sandblast cabinet, may get this part done today.  This week I have yard maintenance on my list of chores.  Need to mow the weeds, cut down the dead lantana, pick up sticks in the woods and yard and build a fire to take care of said debris.  Will do up some baked potatoes that day, always a treat.  I am not foreseeing any shop time this week unless we count the time I will likely spend thinking about some new shelving units for the garage I want to build when the painting is done.

Yesterday, Monday, ;) we took our guests out for a great Mexican meal where we met up with an old woodworking pal and, his wife that we hadn't seen since '80 and, then to a couple art galleries where that pal had some boxes, bowls and boards displayed. Phyl and I had visited those galleries about a month ago and, the boxes bowls and boards he had displayed then, had all been sold. He said he keeps busy supplying those galleries. I don't doubt it, his work is fantastic. Truly worthy of being shown in any art gallery.

I made poor planning to renew car tags yesterday until I realized it was a holiday. When I went to school (in the 1950's) it was not a holiday. Anyway, a sallow was left in the ground where an elliot pecan once stood until Hurricane Sally redid the landscape. To make it easier to mow some soil needed leveling. I found a few old roots rotting. It's not perfect but will do for a few weeks. Will work on it more later.

I have plans for turning this week. Not sure just yet but a couple of pens is in the works.

Been working on another batch of awls.  Got more engine valves to make the shafts.   They all seem to disappear somehow.

Dad once told me that I get the days mixed up because I do not go to church regularly. I told him it is because I work 7-days-a-week. In the F&B business, the best time to do messy tavern / restaurant improvements is early Sunday morning.

Weekend was woodturners meeting which was a hit with good attendance and lots of visitors. Yesterday (Monday) was time to straighten shop after bringing home all the equipment used in last weeks hands on event at the club. Worked on handles for seam rippers. Got them branded and ready for color and finish. Hope to get all that finished today.

The weekend was a wash,  nothing got done on Saturday due to extenuating circumstances that involved a dog and a trip to the ER.  I wasn't involved in any of that but the person who was certainly wasn't driving a manual transmission in that condition so I played chauffeur for a while.  Sunday I broke down some stock for a stand for my little router table and decided that I really really need a second router because swapping that thing around was a royal pain. After that I cut the stock for the drill press table I am working on and that is where the day came to an end.  I wasn't focused at that point so it was time to hang up the apron, turn out the lights, and play with the puppies.

Lovely!

Been up/down, figuratively & literally, the past few days. Saturday was breakfast with several men from church. Small mom/pop diner in county seat has extended offer to host us 1x month. Nice time and good breakfast. Few errands after and few tasks at home.

By late evening, I could tell wasn't feeling good. Severe stomach & back pain. Was up from 2A-6A attending a "stones" concert. It wasn't "rolling" either. Pain and other meds to offset vomiting. I was 82.5% to 91.4% I had passed it by mid PM Sunday???

Also noticed one of our indoor/outdoor cats was lethargic...further check, it appears he was grabbed by an animal or possibly a hawk? Couple of deep rear leg wounds. Monday I was feeling much better just tired but got him to the vet clinic. No broken bones, but they decided to keep him over night. Came home, took advantage of 62° weather and messed around in the garage for 3 hours or so. Quit when I got tired.

Ate a toasted cheese + chicken noodles soup for supper; stomach still a little weak. Couple hours later back pain returned but was able to get to sleep OK about 10:30. Wife woke me up about 12:30A to tell me we were getting a severe t-storm (it is winter in Indiana so ya' just never know); it was 65°. Major lightning show. I dozed back to sleep.

She woke me up 1/2 later...power was on/off, several times before finally going off. I mostly still sleep in my power lift recliner. I learned there is no battery  back-up when the power goes out...I was fully reclined on my back...now I know how a turtle feels when trapped on his back. Guessing it was quite the sight her trying to help me up and out. That's when the back pain pegged the meter along with other symptoms...Rolling Stone concert part 2. Up until 5:30A...78.5%-87.9% still got this one.

To top the night off, about 1:45A, the power returned immediately followed by a lightning strike that had to be at the front door. Boom, cats scattered; internet quit. Tried rebooting the router several times in between resetting all the digital clocks. Hey I couldn't sleep anyways and it felt better to keep moving than sit. I'll call it in later. I got back up when wife left for work about 8. Called internet in around 8:30...have to send a tech out...how's 3-5P? OK. Made coffee and very light breakfast...I'll take a nap before cleaning up to go back to town to post bail for the cat.

Dozed off in the chair with landing gear down, just in case. Good friend called to check on me since I missed Sunday church services. Then wife called to check on me...scrap a nap but I must've had a pain med influenced dream. Maybe you should check the surge suppressor? Bingo, by-passed the data line and hooked directly to the router...internet is back. Surge suppressor did its job. IIRC, it's a 5k joule and been in place for several years. So called ISP back, canceled service call, cleaned up and headed to town.

Stopped by Big Orange, picked up a new surge suppressor, then a couple blocks to Vet Clinic to spring the cat...their new computer system was down so no bill or release paperwork available. Worked through that, one other quick stop then back home. Me and the cat are glad to be back. He ate & drank a little and now is sleeping soundly in one of the chairs. I'm going to bed early since I have another outing scheduled for tomorrow assuming "stone concerts" move to another venue. Also cat has to meet with parole team either Thursday or Friday to redo bandages. No rest for the wicked I guess.

Other than these minor set backs & challenges, everything is moving along fine...well all but those stones.

Here in AZ, it's Wednesday. Yesterday, my BIL and I, installed a new range hood. Sure glad he is an experienced HVAC guy. It took a trip to Lowes for some adapters and, the job still involved a lot of on site tin work. Today, he and his wife will be visiting friends in Tucson. I will (hopefully) be completing a rehab of the Shopsmith 6X48 belt sander. Tomorrow, we head to our grandson's 16th birthday party. Friday, we may install two new bathroom exhaust fans. Depending on the weather Saturday, we may do some sight seeing in Tubac, an art colony about two hours south of us. It's been a busy two weeks since our guests have arrived. But it's been fun!

Chrome tape is your friend. :cowboy: One roll I inherited from the '80s lasted decades.

On Monday the Pellet stove in my basement shop was finally fixed after two weeks without it.

Tuesday the VA turned me down for hearing aids, the loss isn't enough, SWMBO disagrees.

Today I'm searching my inventory for wood to build a Moxon Vise, and a TS sled to go with my newly rehabbed saw.
