Greetings from Los Angeles, CA. 
 

I’m a beginner woodcarver, currently working on a couple first projects. Just turned 50 and wanted something to retire into that I loved as a kid. Mostly I’m lining up projects related to knife and gun handles, bushcraft tools and wooden weapons. 
 

My carving tools currently are limited to BeaverCraft chisels and whittlers, and a collection of knives from KA-BAR to Puma. 
 

I joined this forum to honor my family members across the tree who served in the military, from pre-America wars through to Vietnam. As a member of the Knights of Columbus, I’ll be joining their Color Guard this year which is the patriotic arm of the order. 
 

Looking forward to learning and sharing.

I'm not a carver (unless you count fingertips ) but there are several really skilled folks here who will be more than willing to assist you in any way you may need.

BTW, newbies always bring donuts to share. Your day is tomorrow. With all due respect to my "brother from deep in the heart of Texas", senority places me ahead of him in the donut line. The chocolate glazed yeast as forementioned will get you a seat at the head table next to me.

I should note I haven’t served but two Grandparents and a ton of cousins and uncles have. Here’s to those who serve 🍺
