Last before the finish goes on is remove all the scratch marks. This is made easier by cutting all the carving in to small to manage pieces and bring most of the sand marks out to the edge so to speak.1920963288_IMG_20211119_125303383easiesttosandallthescratchesoutistakeitapart..jpg.ea2e1946b755758c25b983ae13cced3f.jpg

The biggest piece in the middle has very deep grooves that has to go.1453084733_IMG_20211119_180906640thehardestpartistakingoutallthesandingmarks.jpg.994518456ef88b4d39f7a72b2f4a21ea.jpg

I still have a few more things to do before I can put the shine to it and that is to put some smallpatch markings on it. But today I have an acre or so of mulching, mulching, mulching.

Holy cow Patch; If I disassembled that thing, I'd never get all the pieces back in place &/or lose half of them. This one is gonna be a beaut!

If'n you get real good at it, come on up to Yankeeville...I'll let you further hone your skills on about three acres. Probably should bring your Carharts, sock hat and insulated gloves. I'll furnish the hot chocolate or coffee.

might be sorry for cutting these slots in to this big board of the clock but I got to have my name on it somewhere. As crooked as I drew the slots there ain't no telling how they will come out looking.1658907630_IMG_20211120_131828592Imightbesorryaftertheseslotsarecutintothisclockboard!!.jpg.6eb3e43002dab38ce717c1e4972f36a1.jpg

Grandpaw, Dave, what's a Carharts?

Oh, by the way, all the sanding the pieces smooth except for the large interior piece is actually smoothed with an 1/8" shank,1181112917_IMG_20211123_144101549(1)nowfinished.jpg.4918352959421c8e53e6a489afddbc72.jpg round Diamond, or Ruby bit from Wood Carvers Supply. I have both bits in small round and large round but after I use them for a while I can't tell which I'm using. All the interior piece was sanded with the Dremel 6300 Multi-Max. Sanding with a small piece of sandpaper is a thing of the past, thank goodness.

This is after the final steel wool use with the first steel wool app in between clear coats. It very smooth.

Beautiful, Jesse.

I don't even think they sell things like that around here.....You mean it gets kinda like Alaska where you live.

When it gets down to 50 around here I get out of the shop and go to bed even if its 9 or 10 in the morning!

Life is too short to have to live like that. Wife wears a bikini most ever day till dark.

Yeah, I was guessing they were like finding hen's teeth down there...well not Alaska exactly, sometimes they have warmer weather than us.

Get out of the shop at 50? Shucks, 50 is perfect to work in the shop. Your tongue doesn't stick to any of the steel on the tools. Much below 50 it's not worth getting out of bed no matter what time of day it is except to make coffee.

Life is too short to have to live like that.

Well we can't all live in Texas...it's really not that big is it?

Wife wears a bikini most ever day till dark.
