November 13, 20214 yr comment_275040 On rare occasions I see one posted on CL but not often. I did see one on an on-line auction a few months back too. There's a couple guys in our WW'ing club that have them. They turn out (no pun intended) some very cool stuff. I should have bought that stand-a-lone unit a few years back at the yard sale. $250; it was in good shape and even came with a decent stash of blanks and a few mostly completed projects. Guy selling it was very knowledgeable on its use. I had just retired, $$'s were a little tight and I just wasn't smart enough to realize the deal nor the capabilities. Report
November 13, 20214 yr Author comment_275067 So this is a Shopsmith specific apparatus? Heck I had no idea. Now I am torn, should this forum be under the Shopsmith forum, or leave it here? What say you all? Report

Their Shopsmith model is specific to ShopSmith’s, I believe they make a couple more models specific to certain lathes, and also a stand alone unit (which has a motor included, thus making it their most expensive model) Report

November 14, 20214 yr comment_275113 I got mine maybe 6 years ago. They are made not to any specific lathe but by spindle height. That said there are differences in lathe bed ways which may need to be adjusted. When I had mine reworked so I could use on Jet 1442 they replaced the base plate as part of the change and it has adjustable pieces to change for bed ways slot. The lathe mount is not difficult but if you go back and forth very much is a bit more work. Until I sold the Jet I kept it set up all the time. Also the advantage of the stand alone is that it can be put away on shelf or drawer. Report
