October 1, 20214 yr I thought I'd change the blade on my General 10" scms. Unfortunately when doing so I mistakenly disassembled the housing which houses the blade fence return spring. After hours of trying, I have yet to figure out how to reinstall that spring. Seems various brands have different set ups and after trying to get help on line, nothing matches my saw. I've seen what is supposed to be this model of my saw, but the spring configuration and setup is totally different . Please help!

October 1, 20214 yr I found this- https://www.manualowl.com/m/Harbor Freight Tools/98199/Manual/429364 and this https://www.diyforums.net/puting-back-the-spring-in-a-chicago-miter-saw-blade-guard-after-replacing-...-8934129.html Two part videos that might give you some ideas Edited October 1, 20214 yr by lew
October 1, 20214 yr Author Thanks Lew. Unfortunately, this is what my manual shows, but the manual is for this model with the lazer. My saw has no lazer and doesn't have that round plastic disc shown on the guard in the photo. The whole hub configuration is set up differently. Apparently, according to Harborfreight my model is an older model, no longer in production. I told them I don't need a new spring, just instructions for installing the spring I have.
