September 29, 20214 yr Popular Post Hi all, and thanks for having me. USARMY vet here 89-95 82nd ABN now live in Las Vegas which is about as far from where wood grows as it is possible to be. Just finished building a shop which has been a dream of mine for a while and I am gradually building it out as a wood shop. Looking to exchange ideas and advice.

September 30, 20214 yr Popular Post Welcome to TPW. Nice progress so far. Lots more to do, so little time. That pesky job thingy gets in the way.
September 30, 20214 yr Author Popular Post If anyone is interested, I took a set of short videos chronicling the build process. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGXqe8seV5pfCX6q3ZTDEqVCAgg5SUTRv there are about 60 of them and they are all about a minute. It was an interesting experience and the most important thing that I learned is that sometimes you just want to hire a general contractor. I learned a ton about everything from construction methods and orders of operation to how to deal with architects and plan revisions to how to write contracts for sub work to ensure liability coverage. If anyone wants to know any of that, feel free to hit me up. Some of it only pertains to Nevada but other stuff is useful across the board. When all is said and done though, I am happy with the way things turned out.
September 30, 20214 yr Popular Post Well you have done it now . Full bath in the shop means you may never get back into the house. Looks good and now to fill it with equipment.

October 2, 20214 yr Author Popular Post Well, the wife is happy, I have dragged most of the woodworking stuff out of the garage and have started to set things up and make some sawdust. 1st on the list is an outfeed/assembly table modeled roughly off the Paulk workbench. Got to a point of frustration tonight as my old faithful dewalt cordless drill decided that it is finished. Kaput. It is now an ex-drill. I have known this was coming for a while but it is time to replace it. Next on the list are some stands for the tools I have to get them to a working height. After that a lumber cart will be in order. In between all that I will get the new dust collector hooked up as parts and hoses come in. @Masonsailor nice to know there are other members in Vegas and I have a ton of questions about the local area for woodworking.
