Whatchyall got planned for today and the rest of the week?

Bob's nearing completion of his kitchen re do, Lookin' great, too.

Bandit is laid up with his knee. Missed the tractor fest. Get better Steve.

We spent 3 hrs in HD yesterday gathering materials for a fairly large and intricate automatic irrigation system. Well, intricate for me, that is. 5 zones, 400' of water line and dozens of emitters and/or soaker hoses. Construction begins Friday with trenching.

Anyone else's shop time getting interrupted by Honey Do jobs?

Will be pulling old seats, and carpeting out of Pilot once wife gets done with Dr. appointment later this morning.

Have a bit of wiring to do for the front seats. The drivers seat will require having power ran to it, the passenger front seat will need wiring for the AC inverter. Might get it finished sometime tomorrow.

My normal is honey do jobs.  They, sometimes, get interrupted by shop time :D

Spent a lot of yesterday gathering up and making a list of "stuff" that will be taken to an auction site in a couple weeks.  Easily a small pickup load.  The process starts with an id of the item, list it for sale on craigslist and/or marketplace, if it doesn't sell either donate it or carry it to the auction.

My sister & BIL are supposed to be coming through later this week.  They may stay a day or two, or maybe just the night.

So, to sum up, mostly honey do jobs...

A very minor success yesterday, and another try at it today. After seeing a post by Gerald on some handles he turned I tried anther one yesterday...and actually got the hole for the shank straight ( it was for a screwdriver). I've tried this in the past and was never able to get the hole straight, but I think in the past I used a DP to drill the hole, then shaped the handle on the lathe. this time I drilled the hole on the lathe.

Countertops are ready, picked up the 3' & (2) 1' yesterday and will install today. SIL & I will will get the rest, 1-8' 1-12', tomorrow. Patti can start putting things away by the weekend and I can spend the next 6 months trying to find them.

Still working to prep shop for the meeting Saturday. Now up to 17 attending. It is amazing how long it takes to put up all those little things around the shop.

Yesterday also cut up half a pin oak log 1/4 sawn for bowl blanks. Put that in a barrel of water to test preservation of the wood.

Yet another design change.  Not happy with the way the ash lid looks with the cocobolo.  Back to the drawing board.  May shelve this project for a while.

Been busy but not much to do with woodworking.  Found these two small hand planes my Grandfather used in my Dad's toolbox.  Cleaned them up and sharpened them.  Came out pretty good.

One thing to do with ash is to burn it with a torch. It may catch fire but just be ready to blow it out. You wan to burn the grain lines deeper. Also can try cherry.IMG_5592.JPG.bddb55cf76aa50dcf18a5ff297535468.JPG

Drove home across a lot of two adjoining states, Ohio and TSUN.   Nearly 800 miles and 14 hrs, including a few stops for meals, gas, changing drivers.  The first half of the trip was mostly trees and some occasional water -- three Great Lakes and close to fourth.

Got anything dangerous planned for the rest of the week? My shop is closed for the next 10 or so, days. Packing up for a trip to OK for 7 days of epidermal rehydration on Lake Ten Killer. We leave at daybreak tomorrow. Google estimates 17 hrs. driving time. For us, that's two and a half days. Can't check in at the lodge till 16:00. IIRC, there's a nice restaurant and bar nearby. Might as well get a head start on this week of wild reunion celebration. Right!! At 80, I'm the senior member but, not by much. Our wilding days are behind us, I fear.

I'm planning a trip to get some wood.  I haven't been out to get hardwood since the Covid thing started and I'm wanting some different stuff than what's in my stash. When I say "trip" the suppliers I use are a 70 mile drive or so, so I'm hoping I can call and get my stuff set up ready to load so I don't spend time milling (pun intended) around. Pay, load, and leave is what I hope to accomplish.

Bought new / cheap / Amazon / China ROS a week ago; no hose adapter with the unit,  but found Bosch "universal" transition and worked at attachment.  More tape Drill Sergeant!   This ROS so cheap it has no serial number.  About half the price of Harbor.  Seems to work fine, lots of dust in the bag.
