Hello Patriot WoodWorkers,  I joined yesterday and now getting around to an introduction.  I started scroll sawing in 1992 doing desk and wall clocks. I did signs and wall pictures then found Christmas decorations.  Got into Intarsia and that is my main focus now.  I still make the small holiday decorations and have ventured into making working wooden locks, puzzles for adults and children, toy cars, trucks and trains. I also make display cases for military presentation flags.

I do my woodworking mostly in winter after the yard work drops off.  The shop is heated and has a TV so is a good place to hole up when the cold wind blows.

I am retired from railroad train service and a USAF veteran 1965-72.

I was a member of the old "Wood" forum back in the 90s, but it got a bit....cranky, so I left. Figured I would try it again here.  There is a bunch of knowledge here and it seems a friendly, helpful place.

Thanks for the welcome, Grumpy

Also, if you have a Performax 16-32 drum sander please see my post in the Power Tool section.:)

Glad you are here.  Jump in with both feet and join the crowd.  No social distancing required.

Hey Grumpy, Welcome. Have we met on another forum? LJs or The Router Forum?

Grumpy your definition of your wood working sounds like mine. Thank goodness your not another lathe expert! Just kidding guys and girls but I'm glad their rocks can't go this far or at least I hope so!

I swore off of flat things to build about the time I found this site so maybe we can help each other.

One piece of advise, don't ever mention where you might buy things or you might enjoy shopping at certain places.

Hey Grumpy, you'll find this place to be the friendliest of all forums. Some of us were at the old Wood forums. It did get a bit sassy. WOOD abruptly shut it down.

Welcome to TPW.  Not alot of drama here. We do have one guy who hasn't cut his hair since 1968 though. Tricky fellow.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.  TPW sounds like a good place to hang out!  A bit more about me: My "real" name is Bob, I live in the Columbia Basin area of eastern Washington State and I've made many "designer firewood" projects while scroll sawing.  My saws are Excalibur EX 19 & EX 30 both rebuilt more than once.  They're old now but both run as smooth as silk.  I look forward to meeting new friends here!  Thanks again.  Grumpy

Hi, and welcome. When you get a chance, I’d like to see some photos of your work. This is a nice place to show off!

Welcome from an old Wood runaway

Welcome & look forward to seeing some of your work.

Welcome aboard Bob, glad to have you here.

Welcome to The Patriot Woodworker @Grumpy, great to have ya aboard sir and we look forward to your participation and project sharing. :)

Welcome aboard, Bob.  My dad used to work in Othello when I was a yung'un. Haven't been up that way in a looooong time.

You'll find that this is a pretty good bunch of folks and willing to help out with any issues you may have.

And pretty tolerant too. They've let me stay for over 6 months. But that may change now:rolleyes:

Howdy and welcome from the Lone Star State!
