My uneducated guess would be either pin oak or black oak. Leaning towards pin oak, though.

In the white family. Red oak has pointed leaves. Had a water  oak cut in yard day before yesterday . A closer shot of the leaves would help. The leaves I can see look like Water Oak.

Unfortunately the leaf ship has sailed.  I spent some time after work with the chainsaw.  I got 16 rounds out of the two branches and hauled them to the shop.  One triple and one double crotch in the bunch.

Next up, breaking down the rounds and removing the pith.  Will probably do that with the recip saw.  Much safer and much narrower kerf.  I don't have any anchor seal so exterior latex will have to do to for the end grain.

I am with Gerald on this call.  The bark and grain look like water oak.  Yes, it is hard to preserve.  It cracks on me and when sawed into boards, it really twists and cups.  I have been successful with keeping chunks for turning handles.  And, it is very pretty with linseed oil and BLO.
