I occasionally go to Good Will to look for wood pieces. I have found some exotic wood and some domestic great wood like Walnut, Cherry, etc. I repurpose the wood and usually turn it down on my lathe. This morning I found a bowl about 7" dia x 3" high. As you can see from the pictures, it is a piece that took a lot of time, thought and care to make. I did look up his name but did not get any results. Anyway, I intend to clean it up, shine it up and give it to my wife. She will use it to keep some of her sewing needs. I will be careful not to disturb the hand painted label on the bottom. This piece took a lot of planning, cutting, glueing and assembly........not to mention turning and all that goes with it. Even the printing looks hand painted. A piece of wood art for $3.

Quite a variety of woods used.

Great find. Hate to think it but that price is about what most people think of the pieces we labor over.

A Pharmacist I worked with when she was still in school got married a few years ago and was moving out of her moms home. I Give everyone I work with a turned gift at Christmas. She said her Mom said she should throw out this piece of junk. She told her no way.
