Woodworking tools and stuff

Before we moved to Colorado, we had an auction and most of our stuff sold. That include a great many of my woodworking tools. Simply put, I had no room in new garage to accommodate most of my stuff. I really hated to lose my large cast iron bed table saw. There is an upside to this, I was going to have to get new smaller stuff that would work. Fast forward 10 years and I am satisfied with what I have. This morning I had to make myself a promise. NO more sales, garage or estate. I simply have NO more room. For an example......I have over 25 different pairs of pliers because I just couldn't pass up a great deal on a set on sale for a dollar. I've picked up things like an electric chain saw for $5 and an electronic carpenters level for $3. People don't know value and put a price that will just get it out of the way. I have multiples of many things I just couldn't pass up.  So I suppose some day I will downsize and contribute much to a charity.

I'm not into reselling for profit and from now on I promised myself not to buy more.

Wish me luck..........breaking an addiction is hard to do.

Almost ready to move in to the new shop. I'm faced with your dilemma. What to keep, what to sell/toss.

You know what will happen, same thing that happens to all of us. The first thing you toss will be among the first you need:P

Good luck Ron!

I have a friend who moved to a retirement home a few years ago.  Some mutual friends helped him sort out his shop (but it's still not cleaned out).   They found 95 hammers, no two of which were the same.  In the last week his health has taken a turn for the worst and I don't think he is going to live much longer.

Every diary has the same last page.  Only the page numbers differ.

What matters is what you write on all the other pages.

Just cleaned out Dad’s house last week.

he had a large green parka. Told me not to let it go for cheap at some estate sale.

donated it to a thrift shop the benefits local seniors.

sorry, selling a parka in June is tough. And I had limited time.

Ron, like you, getting limited on space.  At my age, I am looking at downsizing and reducing my inventory to only what I need and use.  If I don't use it, obviously I don't need it.  Same for the house.  Not sure Ann is going to live long.  She has quit eating and is now on oxygen.  So, I want to reduce all our inventory on household goods and garage storage items before we depart.  Just something on my mind.

I'm so sorry about Ann. I apologize for the happy face as I hit the wrong button. Our prayers are with you.

Paul

@FlGatorwood...Steve very sorry to learn about Ann. Prayers for you both.

You guys are very compassionate.  Thank you.  This is scary to me.  Never been here before and it's a bit like being in the ocean.  Which way to shore and how far?  I wish all of you on this forum good health and the best of all.

Steve I wish there was something I could do or say that would help. I truly dread the day when I’m in that position. God bless you and your Missus.

my wife spent 6 days in the ICU back in late June, and one finding was cancer.  she's feeling better presently, chemo #5 of 6 is friday this week.

but for those 6 days when she wasn't at home.....scary and lonely, uncertain of what God had planned for us.  so I can empathize somewhat.

DAB,

Happy to hear she is doing better.

Don't know how I missed this. Sorry to hear about Ann Steve. My prayers are with both of you. I totally understand your thinking about downsizing, but from my own health experiences I've learned to not put yourself in a position where you wish you hadn't gotten rid of something. You can always get rid of stuff. Not easy to replace it.
