I bought the wheels from Ebay Monday about noon and they got here today and I installedĀ them on the circle. Forgot to take a picture but I just now glued up the piece on the bottom that keeps the wheel in line with the lathe..picture maybe tomorrow..

Ā  Ā This was an order for 8 wheels for I needed the others I had installed on some magnetsĀ  as a rolling fence while pushing flat wood through the table saw. I had been using model airplane wheels and these I got are the same diameter so take the old ones off and slide the new ones on to the same jigs....That's getting two stones with one bird or something like that.Ā
The ones I wore out were very soft so this is what I made sure the in-line skate wheels were soft also....16 dollars for 8 wheels and bearings and adapters to use 1/4" or 5/16" axles either one..but I had to pay freight of 5.80 or something? Did I say they were used but you can't tell it... They guy said they were too soft and wouldn't let him go fast enough to catch the other guys....different durometers does make a difference.

The round thing with the wheels installed. Now to build a lock down devise to lock it in the lathe bed.Ā 1838624093_IMG_20210326_162808028gotthewheelsinstallednowforthelockdownonthelathe.jpg.164b997d768062d2d7f010916523ceaf.jpg

Then finally got the lock down devise built and finally got Ā the wheels spinning theĀ the spindle while it spins. Just like I was hoping it would do after all this extra stull got done and out of the way for more wood working.

Ā Did you notice how I spruced up the ash facing on the one piece of plywood. The other side is BB and it don't have much grain to be shown off.

That looks good.Ā  It will do a fine job for you.Ā  I was half expecting to see metal arms for the wheels.Ā  I used it for mine.

Mine is quite similar to Patch's I just made my own knobs. Note it is not attached to this lathe and has been modified in height for a different lathe.

I could have used one of those when turning some table legs. I have the wheels/bearings, guess I need to put that on my to-do list.

That turned out super Jess!

Very nice @SmallpatchĀ

This is what I built the circle for and only this hole all the way through this spindle for the oldĀ center piece I'm trying to build one like it.. so this is just one more piece of this puzzle.

Ā I don't know when I'll get back on this project for I got a few other things that has to be done like see how a pacemaker might feel.Ā  And I just yesterday realized the water falls and rivers has some busted pipes from that freeze here while back but I usually keepĀ one of everything I might need to keep everythingĀ working like they should. And I give all these dead trees from that freeze that some are showing signs with a few new sprouts here and there.

Ā  Ā And you might know it but the 18" long 3/8" metal cutting drill bit is missing I bought when I was adding on to that house in Odessa for drilling holes in studs for electric wires...It would have been great but its still lost so I took a long 3/8" metal rod and kinda sharpened the end and it took forever but hey, I got the hole all the way through. I did find a 8" long drill bit and this let me make pilot holes in each end to start with...but this only gave me about 6 " deep on each end and the long 3/8" rod let me connect the two together about 1/2" atĀ  time then blow out the saw dust and continue..........yep, dog tired....
