Almost ready to finish the Great Stuff application to the voids where the metal roof panels' profiles meets the metal beams. The previous owner started but didn't finish the job. Then comes insulation, followed by plywood up to 8' on the walls. Then, the surface mounted conduit and wiring. Might be making sawdust in earnest by mid April.

Marie and I get our second vaccine shot this morning. Assuming I'm still able to function after the shot, I'll be working on turning legs (I think).

Hope you guys' are as issue free as mine. Had a little soreness in the arm for about a day. No other problems. 

At some point today I plan to start working on this nice little pepper mill blank that I've got glued up.  I just ordered my forstner bit extensions so those should be here at some point tomorrow at least.  I'm hoping this blank stays together its a mix of poplar and ply board.  So we shall see how well this goes.  I've got to get out the miter saw as well and square off the ends of this one.  Let it dry and cure inside the house over night and I will let it cure until this afternoon.

 

 

 

Need to heal up a hand....

A stick I was using as a "Pushstick", got nicked by the saw blade....and came back at me.....was using a scrap of 1 x 1 Oak...to resaw stock into 1/2" thick slabs...

 

instead of the pushstick I already had made for such work...

It was on a shelf..3' behind me. 

OUCH!

for me this weekend is processing about 250 4"x4"x 7/16" thick coasters. I'm glad we have our cnc to carve a 3" recess for the cork in each one.
I'll also be doing a second trial run on converting a 6 gallon trash can full of chunks into charcoal. The first one took two fires to cook so for this one I'll be adding some shrouding around the pail to hold in the heat. current set-up is a 30 gallon steel can that I put a 4" section of pipe in the middle pack sawdust and shavings around After I pull the pipe I create an airway at the bottom connecting to the hole and light that airway. the sawdust burns from the bottom with a hot flame coming out the center hole directly onto the pail. I'm hoping the added shrouding will keep the pail hotter thus cooking the charcoal faster.

Have you considered slatwall for your shop walls instead of just plywood? my thinking is it might offer flexible organization options for you

Doing video on A turning club demo tomorrow, and demoing for part of it too.

Finishing up the latest trophy shop order.  Hat racks and Texas plaques.

 

Might even post some pics if I don't forget to remember.

Working on a drying rack for the finishing room.  Have some pieces assembled but nothing much to show yet.  Casters arrived today so I can get them attached to the base which is still just cut pieces waiting on assembly.  Had to get new phone this evening so not much shop time.

As of this morning, just a little soreness in my arm...nothing else. Seems to be the same for my wife. It's times like this I appreciate living in the sticks. We went to the hospital yesterday, went through their screening (temps, questions, etc...they do this for everybody that comes in), checked in, went back to the clinic area for the shot, waited 15 minutes, then got out in less than 30 minutes. Watching the news with the drive through clinics that have cars backed up for 1000s of feet gives me the shudders.

I actually got some shop time in yesterday.  So I got a good bit started on the dresser I've been planning since... well, a while.  Over the last month I've had a few minutes here and there to start, but yesterday was good!

I've got a pile of brush to burn if I can get a permit.  And I need to mow the weeds in the front yard...

Yep, the sticks has it's advantages. My shots were both through the drive thru. But, they were fast and had three lanes. No waiting. Didn't time it but, I'd guess 30-40 min. in all. One disadvantage to the sticks...It took longer to get to the site than to get the shot. 

 Started breaking down my old table saw base & router table which gives me some more room to move around. Frame and base are 2"x2"x1/4" angle iron and it gave me a good idea how much stronger I was 30 years ago. Need to clean up the storage area (catch all) under the workbench & then call-in some favors to help me and the new owner get it on a trailer. 

My helper last few weeks inquired if he could buy all my shop equipment for $4,000.  Was not on same page he was. Told him start browsing craiglist.  No, he tells me. He meant all my stuff for $4,000.

 

Told him stop smoking crack.

Welp I can say at least I got most of the stuff done this weekend.  Got my 4x4 thats going to be interesting to turn.  I'm kind of wishing I had the delta lathe extension.  Cleaned up some stuff off my lathe bench where I installed my bench top grinder AND wolverine jig system.   It was stupid easy to install.  3 screws make sure it fits just under the bench grinder wheels.  Got it all lined up with the grinder and good to go and locked down.  So sharpening system is right next to the lathe now.  So I pretty much covered my weekend stuff that I wanted to get done.
